A thread could be the reason why someone goes UNLOS. But it might not be.

I see the threads or posts where people gather around to share their banter. And it’s a fun read if it’s in good humour. And if someone does take it to heart it’s a shame.

But I can see the point where, if someone leaves because of a reaction to a post, then a public forum might not be for them.

I like to see how people own their veiws, and can give as much as they take. It takes time to fit into a new crowd. And with that in mind, I always test the water with a new forum member, and certainly know how someone reacts before I go full ‘take the piss mode’ nowadays.

Do you think your personally trying to be inclusive to new members the best way you can?

"'Most' of the time."

That’s right. I’m probably generalising.

Thing is if someone leaves after a little bit of ribbing on the forum's it probably isn't the best place for them. The one's that survive are the people that give it back a bit. I like those people.

Manchester (he/him)

I always try to be welcoming and inclusive of new people, but generally I try to be consistent and balanced with everyone.

No different than I am in person really.

That’s my view above. I don’t get on with snowflakes.

Say something I think is stupid, and expect sarcasm or a stupid answer back, no?

I think the forums can be brutal at times. What one person sees as a gentle ribbing can be viewed very differently when the pack mentality of some members start. Oh and I am far from being a snowflake, I really have to bite my tongue at times......but they are entertaining, if even just to see how some people behave.

You just have to not cross the line and be nasty.

If the op only posts once or twice on their thread and doesn't come back to it then the thread goes off on a tangent how do we know they've taken offence to it. Is the fact he hasn't joined in an indication I don't necessarily think so. He may actually be enjoying it. Who knows...

Perception of what banter is, is subjective. That’s the point.

I’ve always said ‘know your audience’.

Can I take the p out of your post now. Probably not, as I don’t know your personality enough.

Another thing, if your first thread is ‘I want to meet loads of women’ and not ‘hi, this is my first post’. What would you expect?

Or people are nasty and try to humiliate people dressed up as banter. Unless the person is joining in with the "banter" then the person may think this isn't a friendly place and leave.

Let's all have a bit more respect for everyone on the forum and not just the regulars as the forum rules ask and we won't need threads telling people they are not suited to forums because they don't like being humiliated
