It it just me, or do others find calling women "sluts" distasteful.

No woman deserves to be called a slut just because she is highly sexed and enjoys sex.

I never reply to messages calling my wife a slut. She is very sexy sometimes very kinky but always a lady.

It's not that simple. Some women hate the word, others embrace it as an emblem of sexual freedom.

Context really. If it's while fucking and something both parties enjoy, I don't find it tasteful. Going straight in with the slut thing isn't for me but one of my friends really enjoys it and finds it empowering (the whole reclamation thing) which is fair enough.

Some profiles use that term. “come fuck me like a slut” or like a post above said with couples profiles “fuck my slut wife” Different strokes for different folks I guess. I don’t think many people would use it to try and demean someone though. It might just be their attempt at dirty talk.

You are probably right. It's just my opinion. They are all ladies if they want to be called sluts then it is THEIR choice

Depends on context. From most people, offensive. I do know some people reclaim it in a "someone who enjoys promiscuity" way, where it can be neutral to positive.

I sometimes refer to myself as a slut, especially with some friends but it isn’t my go to line when speaking to others because not everyone embraces the word the same as I for myself.

Totally agree.

I think there's possibly a time and a place for the word, but in the context of calling her "my slut" during play or sex, not just "a slut". Big difference, IMHO.

It's a term I never use unless I know the lady I'm talking to likes it. Some women enjoy being called it during sex, others have reclaimed the word, whether via things like the Slutwalk or through self-identification (a woman I know says she practices 'ethical sluttery').

'Slut' is only a negative term because patriarchy tries to repress women's sexuality, and personally I see it as simply meaning a woman who exercises sexual autonomy. But due to the negative connotations in the way most men use the term, it's definitely one to only use with someone you know well.

I don't mind being called one in the heat of the moment. I don't like being called a slag though.

The word itself isn’t what’s important, as with many words. It’s the intent. Slut shaming is horrific and should be avoided at all times. Slut pride is a different matter; a woman who is proud of her sexuality and ability to attract many men should be a much more positive thing and should be held in greater regard.

But it is still in the intent and the recipient, as I appreciate that some still won’t like to hear this word.

Isn't slut a woman who is sexually adventurous? not necessarily promiscuous, isn't slag more related to sleeping about?

I agree with most of what has been written it's all about context.

I've seen a few profiles mainly couples ones, that have said something along the lines of " looking for a slut to come and join me and the wife". That is an immediate turn off for me even if I was really attracted to them and the rest of the profile was perfect.

Bit as with many words, depending on context, it can be used as a derogatory term

Yes, I completely agree. A couple on another post asking for advise on their profile used the word. Amongst the profile write up (which was quite long) the only word I saw was slut and it put my back right up.

Slut or whore. Hate both those words being used in a profile.

My FWB wants me to call her a slut amongst other things. She likes it.

So although I don’t think woman who like sex are “sluts” I like calling her my little slut when I fuck her.

I think there’s a difference.

George Carlin had a great view on the used of words and their context.

"There is absolutely nothing wrong – There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those words in and of themselves. They’re only words. It’s the context that counts.

It’s the user. It’s the intention behind the words that makes them good or bad. The words are completely neutral. The words are innocent. I get tired of people talking about bad words and bad language.

Bullshit! It’s the context that makes them good or bad. The context"

Cut the quote there as he does go on to talk about racial words but his point is solid. All down to the context and the way an individual person views it.

I don't like it. But understand that others enjoy it in a certain context. It's not always black and white with that word. I see it as more of a submissive term that some like. Others enjoy it to reclaim it as a form of sexual freedom.

In the right context, with Mart or very trusted friends, in the heat of the moment, I love being called a slut.

Outside of that, especially from random blokes, you are likely to learn quickly that it's a no-no!

It's probably more delusional not to refer to men as sluts -or at least find a fitting "derogatory" term for them to relish in . personally, slut doesn't have any negative connotations for me -something I hapily wear with pride
