Well now here’s a tough one to get your head around . She killed her husband in a premeditated attack , hitting him over the head twenty times as he ate , then stuffing a tea towel down his throat and wrapping him in curtains .

They had separated but she wanted reconciliation and arrived at their home with the hammer in her bag . He wanted to eat , she went out to but bacon and eggs , When she got back she checked his phone , and found a message from a woman he was seeing .

Now it seems she is claiming his coercive behavior throughout their marriage caused her to kill him , and the charges should be reduced to manslaughter . She’s already served seven years of a life sentence . Even her son says she was controlled by her husband and agrees she should be released .

What do you think ?

The scenario you have portrayed would suggest it was premeditated. If she had served his food and he complained perhaps she could e chopped his head off in a fit of rage with a meat cleaver and said she hadn’t planned to do it.

Although I do t know many people who butter bread with a meat cleaver.

She took a hammer to his head and hit him 20 times.

She always had the option of walking away.

However, domestic abuse is a complicated subject which no doubt can cause a person to flip.

I am sure the judge is more qualified to pass judgement.

This!

It's premeditated murder. She took the murder weapon with her. Being controlled etc is not a defence for murder. Just leave the fucker.

She decided to return to the marital home, even after exchanging emails where he sought to keep control of her..

She took the hammer with her so it was pre meditated but perhaps she felt that the only way to stop him controlling her was to kill him..

It will be interesting to see how it all pans out

It certainly will , and could well set a precedent that will always be hard to prove .

I think without the finer details it's not so cut n dry.

Abuse does strange things to you, and sometimes people can feel the only way out is for someone to die. I suppose it depends how strong the survival instinct is as to who it will be.

As the ex wife of an abusive and controlling man, I went to desparate measures to get him out of my life but murder was never on my agenda..
