Hidden meanings in verifications

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

"Genuine" may mean they turned up.

"Nice" may mean they turned up but were a crap shag.

"Treat her with respect" may mean they fucked behind the bins at Aldi but she loved that he put his coat on the floor for her to lay on.

Can verifications be trusted? Do some have hidden meanings? Have you met someone and their veris said they were nice but they were 4 minutes late to your meet?

Oh gawwwd. I hope not.

Then again, they’re just opinions someone holds of you. What one person thinks will differ from another.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a bad verification. Although, I did get a meet request once through a verification.

We find verifications to be biased towards the positive. Know of some people described as “gorgeous” who’s public pictures alone very much betray them, and have also met some in the early days on here (user no longer on site) that very very much did not warrant the glowing reviews.

Granted It’s all very arbitrary and eye of the beholder, however we usually just use the verifications to see who they’ve met, and use that as a gauge rather than what’s written. After all has anybody ever seen a bad review on a profile?

I gather they can have hidden meanings, yes, although there's certainly no universal translation. I don't think anyone leaves a bad one (apart from joking ones), but depending on what you do or don't say, things might be able to be inferred.

Worryingly , not seen it before, but its creeping into some socials it appears , stating you must have a visible veri to becinvited.

I thought socials were to help integrate newbies but there you are. Hope it doesn't spread.

Mind you, i did have veris on my last account, lost when i gave it a break, those veris didn't make a lot of difference.

You come across as a nice person, if I was closer I'd offer a coffee meet to give you a veri. I wouldn't be offended if you hid it either.

You make a great point there. When I started a new profile I had no veris and I found it really frustrating that I couldn't post on a social event thread or even mail them to ask for an invite.

I hope people that do socials read this and maybe re-think their no veri rule.

But I also understand they want people to turn up. If they offer a place to someone without a veri and they're too shy to turn up it would be unfair on verified people that couldn't get on the list.

I can’t say I pay much attention to verifications as what works between two people may not have the same outcome with a different party involved.

The difficulty is that people choose which verifications to publish. So, you’re trying to see a pattern where each person writing a verification may mean something different with a phrase, which may mean something different to the person curating it, which may mean something different to you.

The fact that each user chooses what to publish is also why somebody’s comment up there about never seeing a bad verification is demonstrating a total lack of thought. Why would anyone publish a verification that said that their feet stank or their house was filthy? It’s also a cruel way to communicate that to somebody. I had a meet who I discovered, far too late, needed a more thorough bathroom regime. How much of an arsehole would I have to be to tell her that via a verification?

Personally, I find verifications more likely to put me off someone. 99% of the ones I see are crass, playground nonsense about what they got up to and how good they were at it, or that nice/genuine/treat with respect bullshit that does not make anyone concerned look remotely attractive.

I had a genuine veri that was so comically enthusiastic that if I’d read it on someone else’s profile I’d have assumed it was fake.

Weirdly I had a meet with someone else who had replied to me after reading it. Probably the most surreal thing that’s happened to me on Fab.

Veris mean absolutely nothing to me. It's more about getting a feel for a person when chatting. The real problem is that more and more people saying they won't meet unless you're verified, as if not being verified means you're a fake profile. See, the things with veris is that they are only representative of your meet with that person

Just because you had a good time doesn't necessarily mean that I will

To that end, for me, I just read them as 'we met & I survived the experience'

I'm happy just to see a tick and know that that tick was from a physical meet

I don't need to know the details

couple, us we him her.

Tbh you lot on here *you lot being the majority of the forum users and contributors* will always read between the lines and come up with a judgemental opinion even on the most innocuous forum post let alone verifications.

People read what they want to read.

There's lots of bitchy, bitter, jealous people on here who will choose to rip into say a females veris or profile based on jealousy.

Ie she's hot and getting regular meets with fit guy's but has graphic verifications .

Your ugly, don't get much action and then it's with ugly guy's . type of person

Same with guy's.

But as always on here the hypocrisy is staggering time and time again this comment that people use.

It's their profile they can do what they want with it.

Pop's up but once again it only seems relevant when people choose to think it is.

Before I buy anything from a car to a new kettle I try to read as many reviews as possible to get as much user information about the product.

Same goes on here I personally read as much information about the person who we/Mrs is planning on meeting before to get a rough idea if they are for us or not and verifications go a long way to help. But I also like to read the ones they have given as well as who they have given one's too.

But we always meet socially before play anyway so make our own judgement as well.

Someone may have glowing feedback but we may meet them but they are just not for us, doesn't mean we leave a bad verification though.

However I do think a star/ points system however crass and trashy it may seem could help.

Whereby you can choose to leave a non text based Veri.

Site have a simple template with star's 1-5

Simple questions.

Met in person

Turned up on time

Social meet

Play meet.......

Maybe ten simple one's that you can check or not and a rating of answers is then given.

If you then choose to leave some feedback that's optional.

A bit cold and clinical but also clear and too the point.

I also think webcam verifications should be gotten rid of.

The star system option is a good idea. Having that choice would help people who struggle to right a genuine and sincere but non graphic veri.

It will of course be misinterpreted but I like the idea."

I'm shit at writing veris. I'd like a star system.

Do they do half stars?

"Tbh you lot on here *you lot being the majority of the forum users and contributors* will always read between the lines and come up with a judgemental opinion even on the most innocuous forum post let alone verifications.

North Notts

Well we managed to decipher all of the hidden clues on an un-named fab couples profile and each of hidden meanings or codes broken took us somewhere entirely different.

Anyway to cut a long story short we eventually uncovered the Dead Sea scrolls buried in a farmers field just north west of Norwich!!!

Follow the hidden meanings peeps

I'm not very good at writing veri's and I won't display any I think give too many details. None of mine have hidden messages.

"Where possible, I look for a pattern. I don't pay too much attention to sexual details, more other things like polite, respectful, etc. Those could be code too, I guess, but you've got to take a leap of faith at some point.

99% of the ones I see are crass, playground nonsense about what they got up to and how good they were at it, or that nice/genuine/treat with respect bullshit that does not make anyone concerned look remotely attractive."

Fair. But it's one of a variety of things I use to work out if I want to meet someone, you know?

The actual veris themselves don't bother me. That's their experience with another. It's not necessarily reflective of what would be our own potential experiences.

I will confess however I would have a wobble moment if I clicked on the sender of the veri to find a vision of pure hottness greeting me!

It's interesting to discover that for some people, the actual verifications can influence. I may hide my own, people think I'm odd enough!

This makes sense to me. Using veris as a tool along with other things is useful.

I just don't understand when people use only verifications as 100% proof of anything, and being unable to make decisions without verifications to hold their hand. That's like baby sitting to me.
