Surely there would have been reporters there with expensive cameras that zoom in etc

Not one single picture of the drone close up .I find it hard to believe now

I'm thinking cover up. A plane inbound needed to be diverted somewhere else, maybe some kind of terrorist on board. So a legitimate reason for a diversion needed to be established. Just a thought.

Or someone made a mistake/ hoax call, and the authorities took the appropriate actions straight away. Imagine how much worse the papers would have been had a drone been sucked down an engine because the authorities thought "ah it's probably nothing".

Or ATC was hacked and they didn't want to panic the pubic, and admit the issue.

Or maybe it was organised by the French to lower the price before Vinci bought it.
