Three weeks of hype? Not for those of us who work in retail. Christmas for us started in August!

I work on the clothing section in a supermarket and we had summer dresses , swimsuits and sandals delivered a week or two ago. Valentines stuff came into store in November!

For me, boxing day and the day after it which has no name, are far superior to Christmas day,

In a rich society where good food is a regular occasion and electricity and heating minimises the impact of short cold days, it can be hard to remember the reason for a mid winter feast, but even now without Christmas it would be a long time between October and March.

Enjoy yourself however you wish OP, but weather Christmas marks the apex of winter, or the birth of a non retribution based God figure, or just a bad day when people are not there to serve you in shops, we do need it still.

I'm back to normal already - Christmas means little to me.

To me boxing day and the days of Christmas week are what I enjoy, the kids playing with their new stuff, no stressing over Christmas any more, people are more relaxed and content.

This is when I enjoy myself, I'm not rushing to get through this now.
