Turkey or another meat ?

I’ve heard a lot of people find Turkey a little dry.

What meat do you have for your Xmas roast ?

Turkey ? Chicken ? Lamb ? Venison or game meats ?

If you layer the turkey in bacon before cooking it keeps the moisture in

Beef and pork this year.

We usually have salt beef, but couldn't get it this year, so just have normal beef.

Northants

Myself and my family used to invite a lot of our various families around.

And we used to cook lots of different meats to cater for differing tastes.

Happy Xmas you cock.

Near Marlborough

Turkey is only traditional as we’re not allowed to eat swans anymore. Goose and pheasant are also traditional feasting meats.

I’m not cooking this year as I’m away with friends but my preference is for cockerel, my friend rears them for Christmas. They’re great to eat, will feed loads like a turkey but I think they are less dry.

I do like a bit of cock

Chams or Socials

"Turkey is traditional though"

Only really since the 1950’s when homes started to have fridges. In the 1930’s the cost of a turkey would equal a whole week’s earnings

We always celebrate Christmas on the 24th so we had a Turkey crown and Gammon - both cooked to perfection!
