Height and dating

North Bucks

So I am out with one of my mates who happens to be around 5 feet 4.

He’s trying to make it in the dating game and is recently on a few dating sites.

He says that a lot of profiles mention height which rules him out.

I say be honest about it and go for people don’t mind his height.

My other friend is saying don’t mention it and try and win through on personality alone.

You decide?

My thinking is if he meets someone who doesn’t mind that’s the issue out the way there and then.

He has to mention it... like a lady mentions her extra curves... nobody likes to feel deceived

Under the Duvet

He needs to mention it.

As per the recent height thread, some people aren't bothered by height so he needs to be targeting them rather than people who specify a preference.

im on a dating site and the last women i took out was 5ft 8. im 5ft 3.

and we had a lovely time, a lot is down to character and respect.

act like a muppet they already have a reason not to meet you.

we are meeting again, and one of her friends is coming along with another guy so im making new friends which is what its all about.

I don't care, but not mentioning it and people might think you're lying by omission.

Height is very important... I don't go for very tall. Yes there is a thing as too tall.

I better start adding I'm m fat to my profile don't want men deceived.

I'd mention it on his online profile, turning up to a date immediately looks disappointed would be pretty crushing He might be better off trying to pick people up in bars

Your pal needs to list his height. Not all women for tall men by any means. I’m too tall for some women’s tastes so it’s horses for courses

Hiding in the shadows

I've been called shallow, for admitting this on a previous thread, but height is the first thing I check.

I'm tall, I rarely find men shorter than me physically attractive.

When I did use a dating site, if there was no height stated on someone's profile, I'd just pass them by.

No point chatting to someone only to find out later, that they're 6" shorter than me.

It is not something that he can hide when he meets so best to be honest and look to meet those who are not bothered by height.

I never knew (lack of) height was an issue until I joined Fab

I think because (some of the) ladies here state their preference for 6ft plus guys, shorter blokes can lose focus and assume that short guys have no chance in the dating gane.

It's a nonsense

Just choose the women who don't insist on tall men only

There's a lot of them about

Don't allow the womenfolk of Fab to skew the bigger picture, because life here isn't representative.

I’m only 5’9” but I’ve had plenty of interest from the ‘tall guys only brigade”

I'd rather know his height! I'm 6foot and a size 24. If I met a guy who was quite a bit shorter than me I'd feel really self conscious. Not because of his height but because I'm not as comfortable in my own skin as I'd like to be, I'd think the height difference would make me look even bigger.

I can only agree that it is important to include height.

There are lots of ladies who don't care about height but equally others that do. Always best to be honest to prevent embarrassment or disappointment.

Always be honest and upfront. Some people may have a preference for taller which is their perogative. Respecting others choices is important but like a lot of things I find height is not a deal breaker in isolation.

Don’t get hung up on the height thing, be honest. Most women are looking at the overall package ( not that package) and height is only one factor.

I don’t think many men are over 6 foot maybe 20%? And a decent percentage of them are munters lol so I think you’re at to much of a disadvantage

Just to clarify I’m 6ft 3 it’s my pal sat next to me who is 5 foot 4. He’s included it.

I'm the same, not because I'm anywhere near as tall as you but I like to be towered over

He’s my best mate. We have made an odd looking couple of wing men through the years.

I’m 5-5” it has been a factor that has put a lot of women off and not really anything I can do that change that. It’s funny to me because it’s so trivial but each to their own.

But then my preference has always been petite or slim and athletic women, so we all like what we like.

But in the world of profiles and stats it’s what we go by when looking at potential people we would meet. So it’s initially very important
