i thinking of treating a friend who is not having a good time at the moment so looking for rough idea of expense.

I don't spend a fortune clearly,I go to my local little hairdressers where the old fokes go,it's cheap and cheerful. My daughter just spent £65 getting highlights, sod that.

"im looking to pay for hair nails the works basically"

For a cut and blow dry mine is about £35.

Nails shape and polish with shellac is £25. Although I don't always have the shellac Polish and a normal shape and polish I think it's about 12 quid. I think they're probably about standard prices.

Northampton Somewhere

Depends what you're having done of course. I don't colour my hair or anything so it only costs me £10 with a free fringe trim inbetween visits, that's with a woman who works from home.

Might be better to get her a voucher perhaps?

Manchester (she/her)

Around here cut and blow will usually run you £30-£60 depending on the place. Nails £10-15 for basic file and polish through to north of £25 for differing degrees of pampering manicure and/or long lasting gel polish. No idea about colouring and treatments.

Don't know why women's and men's are priced so differently, but I know if I find a cheap place my hair will be a disaster.

Hiding in the shadows

My friends daughter recently opened her own salon.

I get my hair done Tbar, wash, cut, straightened every 6wks £50.

It takes her approx 4hrs to get through all my hair.

It would be 3x that much in one of that fancy salons in town.

My talons are all my own, but I get them shellac painted every 2/3wks £22.

It takes the lady 30mins, last time I tried to paint them myself, it took a whole afternoon & by the end of my shift that night it was all chipped.

I'd say my 'costs' are very low, compared to what some friends spend

That’s utterly adorable! Can’t help with regards to costs I’m afraid as I’m a penny pincher in that department and color and cut it myself. Leaves me more to spend on shoes and clothes!

There are maybe other ideas for pampering, too, which might run cheaper. DIY facial? (I mean like sheet masks and things, not jizz) It's nice to do yourself, but even nicer to have someone else do for you, if you have that kind of relationship.

The missus is a hairdresser and she charges £60 for a colour and £30 for just a cut and blow... if you factor £75-£100 all in I don’t think you’ll go far wrong

It’s a lovely idea, but would a massage be a less intimate gift than shoes and dress? Touch can also be so therapeutic. Just a well meant suggestion.
