It sounds so off to me - reminds me of seedy pricks on early internet chatrooms looking for "fems"

"It sounds so off to me - reminds me of seedy pricks on early internet chatrooms looking for "fems""

That's the connotation that you apply to it, not everyone else does. That's the fun thing about the applied and inferred meanings associated with words. To most people it's just the correct word for the gender.

Farmers? In my experience, at least.

Though I am the female of my species, I would rather not be called that.

And "male" and "female" toilets.

Do they ever have baby toilets?

Works best as an adjective than a noun

Its annoying being called a girl and calling women girls

Makes us sound prepubescent and immature

Not even allowed to call female students girls they are young women or young ladies

I'm a woman not a girl but I'm certainly no lady either

I was born female and I see myself as female that's just my gender label

But I've grown into a woman it's demeaning to be called a girl

Do men like to be called boys?

Doesn't female refer to sex though?

No issue - boys, mens, lads, guys all are interchangeable depending on where you're from.

So long as the context isn't derogatory such as "That's a job for a man, not a boy"

Probably just as many men who enjoy a boys night out as women who enjoy a girls night out .

Like “ I’m off out with the boys tonight “ , a common way to say it .

Just as “ It’s a girls night out tonight “ . Again very commonly said .

There’s nothing untoward about it .
