I was careless at the weekend and shared face pic and ‘other’ pics on WhatsApp with who I thought was genuine.

I’m a married guy who likes to have fun chats, usually very careful. I was under a huge amount of pressure at the weekend and slipped up.

After I shared pic there was no more talk.

The following morning I started getting text messages for them as they used my real name. Telling me they were going to share pics with my wife.

I told them I was reporting to the police and started blocking them.

I didn’t hear anything for a few days until I got a text saying ‘hi’ tonight.

I just didn’t respond.

Has anyone else found themselves in this situation? I’m very worried what can happen.

I have a biggish online profile, fb, Twitter, etc.

What do I do????

Not much you can do, but I would advise continuing to not respond to them. Just keep blocking.

Stop trying to cheat, and have a loving relationship with your wife.....ffs we reap what we sow.

2 choices that I can see:

Tell your wife before they do, if they really do know who you are.

Wait and hope.

Other than that I'm not too sure.

You play with fire you may get burned.

I did many years ago!

They even created a profile on Facebook with pics from fab with my name saying cheat.

It was from someone I’d had a meet with and wouldn’t meet again.

I was foolish to tell them my real name.

Being in Cork you’ve left yourself a bit open fella.

If you’ve posted no identifiers, don’t worry and brazen it out as lot’s of chancers are about.

If you have posted pic’s that may identify you I would advise making them private on here or removing them from your other online profiles fella and go from there.

This has recently happened to a friend of mine.

A guy she meet a while ago has started doing this to her because she doesn't want to meet him again.

And sadly a lot of men and women do cheat, some do not have it on their profile that they are married and some do. It's ultimately a dangerous game to play.

I've met mostly married women, I've no problems with that as I never talk about things and some I tell not to leave a verification.

But it's always dodgy game to play.

Don't put much mental or emotional energy to it, have a cut-off. You've done the right thing to block, warn and ignore. Report any fab users behaving inappropriately to admin. Retain what records you have, in case you need/decide to involve the police. The police can be very helpful and supportive, so don't hesitate.

Get your life in order and have a totally distinct personal and working life from your shag life. Different photos and potentially phone numbers. Don't mix them ever. You could also rest your profile here - consider changing the details on it to a different city etc, if you keep it active - possibly keep it visible to friends only.

And consider what you could fall into by having a life that's secret from your partner

Amazing. Oh well fella, if you had tits and a foof, the white knights would be queuing round the block to express their outrage. As it is, they’re queuing to stick the boot in.

I wouldn’t speak to the local police, but ones from your nearest big city. I would also think about how you break it to your wife if the threats get serious. It’s better coming from you than from them.

Man up and tell your wife. You’ve been a prat and this is how it goes unfortunately, when you play away behind someone’s back.

These things will always come out. Take it from someone who knows. It would be better coming from you, than for her to find out from someone else.

Do the right thing or you could loose it all...

This happened to me about 15 years ago, was a regular fwb which turned sour, she started leaving notes on the wifes car which i intercepted. Non stop calls and texts.

I told the wife, we split and it still didnt stop.

Police were called and turned up at her address to question her. Turns out she was also married, she did a runner causing a huge police search fearing she was suicidal.

She was found and sectioned.

That was 15 years ago and now i would only ever play when im single.

It was a painful lesson learned but as others have said, you reap what you sow.

Ha imagine if this was a married woman the comments wouldn't be as horrible.

Take it as a learning curve, never give your real number there are plenty of message apps. Never give your real name or work etc. Your fucking these people not having a relationship with them.

I really feel for you, I have been stalked online and it's a very stressful experience. No one deserves to interfere in your life.

So you made a mistake.

My advice is to imagine your best friend coming to you with this story, what would you tell him to do?

Then do that.
