Awkward Wrapping

Somewhere In The Ether…

I’m pretty rubbish at wrapping presents - I admit it, but can nonetheless wrap up regular square or else rectangular boxes with some semblance of competence at least.

However, this year, I’m finding that the gifts I am giving are getting evermore irregular in shape and I’m struggling like mad to make the wrapping even remotely presentable (hell - I’m getting tempted to hand them over in a bloody bin liner or something!)

So......what is the strangest/most oddly shaped present you have ever given away or received?

Grab a load of carboard boxes from tesco and shove everything in there first. A nice square easy box for wrapping.

Anything triangley is a pain.

Gift bags and tissue paper

However I love wrapping presents and go all out with it. Clearly have too much time on my hands

Cheeseville, Somerset

I had a three pack of remote control candles my nan asked me to get her but the puppy had attacked the box and given they were 40 odd quid at the time I wasn't getting another

So I wrapped them as they were

They resembled a large cock and balls with a large 'fountain' type bow on top

Her comment of 'ooo, this looks good' still haunts me years later

I got my little niece a giant cuddly unicorn - I’m not even going to attempt to wrap it though (it would probably require a whole roll at the very least!) so purchased one of those big Christmas bags and thought it would look nice to pack over the top with loads of tinsel

Tin foil.

Cheaper and easier, just scrunch the edges.

Job done.

Looks all shiny and shimmering under the tree.

It's really easy to make a perfect sized bag or large envelope kind of thing from wrapping paper. Cover any pointy corners on the gift with bubble wrap and drop into the bag.

There and to the left a bit

I bloody hate wrapping and have just spent 30 mins wrapping four presents, all square/rectangular to take over to my Mum's later - swearing may have been involved!!

No matter what it is I always seem to end up with not quite enough paper to make neat folds, get cramp in my legs from crouching on the floor, sellotape that twists and sticks to itself just as you are about to stick it down, and then pulls half the paper away as you try to extricate it.

Anything odd shaped? Forget it!!

What is? Being bad at wrapping? I'm bloody brilliant at it! So far this year, I've wrapped over 400 presents, all with ribbons and bows. I love it

"Six bags of manure"

That’s got to be the sure winner of not only the most awkward to wrap, but also the most unusual present I’ve ever heard of
