FAB CRAP RUNNERS CLUB - WEEKS FIFTY-ONE AND FIFTY-TWO!

WEEKS FIFTY-ONE AND FIFTY-TWO!!!

.

MOTTO: We run #LikeAToddlerChasingAPug

.

.

.

Hey lovely Fab Crap Runners!

It's Week Fifty-one!!!

.

.

.

How is everyone doing?

.

.

.

EXPLANATION AND ETHOS:

EVERYONE is welcome in the Fab Crap Runners' Club (the crapper the better).

From 1st January, a bunch of Fabbers began improving their fitness through running. None of them were natural athletes but they did it anyway.

.

.

.

FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS:

"Couch to 5k" (C25K) is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (Mrs T used Get Running). But you can join this thread to get fit by any means including walking and cycling - all are welcome. If you're expecting to be utterly crap at it (I mean reeeeeeeeeally bad), you're in the right place. Join the thread, tell us what your aim is and we'll cheer you on each week, just for trying.

.

.

.

FOR MORE EXPERIENCED RUNNERS:

Tell us what you’re up to with your running, your training and your races. Let’s us know your highs and lows. Please cheer on the newbies and give advice if they ask.

.

.

.

FCRC SOCIAL PARKRUN

I am doing a doodle poll to find out where everyone can get to with ease before organising the next social.

https://doodle.com/poll/77nghmke7uwunrwy

Again, it's completely anonymous and you can vote for as many options as you would like.

Hopefully the regions are self-explanatory (Sorry if you think your county should be in a different region!)

I'm in the process of organising locations for parkruns. I'm thinking one a month in the different regions.

.

.

.

The first one will be in Leicestershire on Saturday 19th January 2019. As this is a public forum, I'll confirm exact location by pm. Please complete this doodle poll if you are able to attend.

https://doodle.com/poll/zywk7en2dx6yabmq

.

AND FINALLY:

Who is working towards a specific goal? Tell us your progress.

And remember to keep running over Christmas!

You could've run on Saturday with us!

I've decided I need to invest in a hot tub and spend all Friday night in it - apparently my legs like to go faster afterwards

I don't mind the rain (living here if you don't run in rain, you won't run much at all!) But it's bitter cold and gale force winds, not pleasurable at all

Morning everyone. I’ve not posted on the Crap Runner Club threads before but I really like reading about everyone’s exploits. Running can be incredibly transformative and I definitely get the impression that’s been the case for lots of people on here.

I’m not a crap runner but I’m not a good one either. I don’t have a goal but I run to stay fit, to get my arse of the sofa, to improve my mood and to get some great outdoors into my lungs!

I really struggle with the idea of going for a run though, I never ‘want’ to run. However, on days like today I’m so glad I did it. 5 miles in Windsor Great Park in the glorious sunshine amongst festive dog walkers and fellow runners. A warming cuppa afterwards as the endorphins kicked in and I am most definitely ready for the rest of the day

That's the end of May - plenty of time to train.

I don't know your running ability at the moment, so apologies if you already know this, but instead of pulling out considering doing a run/walk training program (and run/walk the race).

It will do you some good to get out, exercise is really good for depression/anxiety.

I'll second that, even if you can't get fit enough to complete the race, you'll certainly benefit physically and mentally from the training. Take it from someone who knows

Good luck! "

Thanks!

4 miles, really enjoyed it. Ran with music for the first time in literally years, think I need to keep on with that while I get back into running for the joy of it.

Well done!

I stayed in bed, but am planning a double on New Year's Day - if I can get out of bed early enough!

First 'off my feet' injury for sooooo long. Really hurt deep in my calf. so at least 7 days no running...kills me, but walking hurts on the hills at the mo, so running a no no. Daily massage & foam rolling for a couple of hours (I must be irritating to watch TV with..) Compression on most of the day & hope for the best...hate it, just hate it..

When I say 'off my feet' I mean off my running feet, still able to walk around, although gets painful on distance & uphill, not run since 800m I managed last Monday when I had to stop & hobble home...I never stop....

I guessed you meant not running rather than bedbound!

Any idea what's caused it?

Quads are a little sore and I've got a head cold, none of which are great prep for tomorrow's half marathon!

I did a fell race 3 weeks ago which hurt of course, recovery seemed slow , ran a hilly (Malvern) 10k training run the week after & twinged it then I think... No real reason , maybe just one of those things.
