Who’s your sports personality of the year, and why?

Mine is Alistair Cooke. An amazing career, ended on a high.

SPOTY is usually won by someone who has achieved something amazing but it’s worth remembering that the word ‘personality’ is in the title.

To that end, not sure that Hamilton describing his very acceptable Stevenage home as a ‘slum’ will endear him to many people

Of those people i chose Lewis Hamilton.

However, much as i admire him and enjoy watching him race, my personal choice would be Tai Woffinden who this year won his 3rd Speedway World Championship.

Out of these 6 it would have to be Asher -Smith for me as she has had good year in athletics and seems like a great role model.

As someone from Stevenage and loved 2 doors away from Hamilton in that time. Before he moved to Welwyn to a much nicer area I am very offended by this statement. He can eff off to his tax haven and wipe his tears on his money.

I agree with Tyson fury comment, if he was nominated. I have a new found respect, considering his mental health illnesses and to come and win (my opinion) the heavyweight title fight, is just remarkable.

Agreed, for most of the season he had the inferior car to Ferrari but still won. I think he really showed his class and skill this year, a worthy number 2
