Following on from the Dianne Abott racist comments it seems the labour party leader on paying tribute to Bob Holness goofed by reffering to his programme as blackbusters. I think the reasons why Dianne Abott has not been sacked speak for themselves her leaders an eeeejit. Even stranger why has Milliband paid tribute to Bob Holness not like he was ever a presenting legend ? obviously he does not have much else to fill his time !

The Milibands' father was Ralph Miliband, a Marxist intellectual who wrote a book on the labour party and its inherent deficiencies as a socialist party, which has proved to be correct. Anyway, they were both famously sent to comprehensives, as if this in itself means anything.

thanks for doing the research lol !

I thought the reason why Abbot has not yet been sacked by Milliband was simply that he did not have the balls. After his blackbusters gaff i now think its more he lacks the intellegence.

"blackbusters" would seem to be a Freudian slip rather than an indication of low intelligence, and as such shows that black is on his mind, so maybe he is thinking about it.

I wouldn't advise him to sack Abbott, as one of the few black politicians with any public profile in the Labour party it would draw in a larger media shit storm focusing on Labour and race and create far more problems than it would solve.

Your not a labour pr media person are you? So your saying even though she has made a few racist comments in her time she should not be sacked simply because she is black ?????

For all your resaerching one thing glarinly seems to have slipped your attention, racists come in many colours.

..and Abbott probably knows she won't be sacked, the colur of her skin will save her from looking for a new job, it seems. Talk about double standards.

I only mentioned his gaff because it simply shows Milliband did not have a clue who Bob Holness was if he did he would not have needed a pre prepared speech with the typo error to pay his respects. It simply shows how insincere a person he is but then again he is a politician.

Stranger still is why his spin merchants thought it a good idea to encourage him to pay tribute to someone who was a blip in the presenting world, obviously must have blank brains if this was all they could come up with to give him some self publicity.

Politics isn't a simple ethical/moral field in which an error is instantly punished. Abbott's 'racism' is not a strong enough reason for sacking her as it would create more problems for Miliband, focus media attention precisely upon his many failings, drawing the ire of commentators.

Politicians are playing a game, they lie, dissemble, treat us as fools to be manipulated, which is why they are constantly telling us nowadays 'they think its the right thing to do', and why they constantly attempt to be on 'our' level by talking about football, tv, pop idol.

"Abbott's 'racism' is not a strong enough reason for sacking her as it would create more problems for Miliband, "

Then surely that same logic can be applied to Suarez as it creates huge problems for Kenny Dlaglish not having one of his most prolific strikers available to him. Should Suarez be exempt from the consequences of making racist comments about and to others also?

The analogy is flawed in a number of ways.

Suarez directed racist abuse towards an individual. He was banned by the FA not by Liverpool or Dalglish, who clearly have no interest in his being banned racist or not! He has not been sacked by Liverpool either, as it is not in their interests to do so.

Abbotts comments are not directed at any individual and are not abusive. It is not in Miliband's or the labour party's interests to sack her so he hasn't.

I always find it amusing when people pick up others on spelling mistakes that they don't check their own post for misspelt words.

"Abbotts comments are not directed at any individual"

I am white and I am offended by what she said, that makes it personal to me, and I am an individual.

Stop trying to defend the indefensible.

I haven't defended anything apart from my own argument that it would not be in Miliband's political interest to sack Abbott. And secondly that the situation with Suarez and Liverpool is not analogous.

"I haven't defended anything apart from my own argument that it would not be in Miliband's political interest to sack Abbott. And secondly that the situation with Suarez and Liverpool is not analogous."

Considering that the man's popularity with the electorate is plummeting, he is believing in a false economy if he thinks keeping Abbott is beneficial to his hopes of the Labour Party winning the next general election. If he doesn't sack her his party will be seen to support ethnic minorities who make racist slurs against the white majority (but it's labelled positively as reverse discrimination in this country). And let's not forget that this isn't the first time that this particular woman has made racist remarks against white people. How long can Milliband be seen to support a blatant racist within his ranks?
