the right frame of mind -London

I would think most would rather celebrate it as the winter solstice -or shortest day of the year?

To quote PIL:

"I could be wrong I could be right" -but in this case it's the latter

Plymouth and Newcastle (sometimes)

I always thought these pagan festivals were more of a group thing than something done when you're alone.

It is. This time of year is Saturnalia and Yule coming up. Hannuka's now finished, but there's still Kwanzaa to look forward to. There's probably other stuff too

They are lovers and worshipers of the seasons

Sahmain is the festival celebrated around Halloween time, Yule is the next pagan festivel. And to answer someone else they can be celebrated alone but more power is gained and created if celebrated within the coven

Yep, I show my appreciation for the Winter Solstice, something my Dad always did.

Always have a holly wreath hanging and red, gold and green candles.

My son was born on the Winter Solstice, so the date is extra special for me.

Correct. Samhain is gaelic November. I think the OP means Yule.

Yule is a pagan fire festival celebrating the return of lengthening days, the rebirth of the sun god. Typically it sees the lighting of fires, merriment, the giving of gifts and excessive feasting and drinking.

No different to Christmas really which the Christians stole from us because they've never had an original thought in all their sorry existence (and to make conversion easier).
