It's a bugger for diabetics too - a quick glug of cocacola used to give me the sugar I needed, now it's really hard to find

So maybe the best thing about this whole sugar free malarkey is people give up drinking fizzy drinks and stick to water which is healthier for you anyway. Fake sugars are toxic. Best avoided really.

Not for the same quantity though. The proper cocacola bottles are tiny.

I drink water most of the time. So when I decide to treat myself to a fizzy drink, I'd like to have one with all the bells and whistles and not get penalised for it.

Totally agree. I wouldn’t touch a diet/low sugar drink and neither do my kids. So much shit in it. One of the reasons I can’t stand Jamie Oliver and his ridiculous ideas.

Exactly this . He goes on about natural food and recommends a completely man made sweetener !

Sometimes it is. I was in a theme park cafe the other day, they only had diet fizzy drinks.

Beyond belief. Put the time and money into parenting skills, self control and how to say no to your kids rather than depriving everyone who actually can have things in moderation and say no to their kids.

All of the supermarkets and newsagents are selling 500ml bottles at 2 for about £2.20

I don't consume very much sugar at all. So why should I, and millions of other healthy people be penalised because of a minority with no self control?

How many profiles do You have on here?

I see fat people as a scape goat in all of this. It's just a way for the government to get more money but label it up as a way of dealing with obesity when it isn't.

I've been fat all my life yet rarely do I drink fizzy drinks that aren't the diet variety.

I do eat chocolate and take aways and crisps, none of which are taxed higher than lettuce.

I think it's mainly to protect vulnerable people not the self indulgent.

I'm intrigued to know why the government wants the ingestion of artificial sweetener to increase.
