Now it seems the city will be painted with blue for years to come, do you reckon fergie regret leaving and how long will jose be there?

Somewhere In The Ether…

I can’t see Jose making it to the end of the season to be honest (barring the team returning to some miraculous all winning form as was the case years ago).

Aside from a few brigh moments, this squad looks utterly dejected for the most part.

He might not make it to tomorrow morning.... Been watching them for 35 years and the team we have t present is devoid of any kind of attacking mentality... They all look terrified of making a mistake and pass the ball backwards.

Watching City and Liverpoo makes me ill.... Watching the quick intensity, pressing one and two touch football..... I'm only jealous!!

I agree; Pogba being French, is clearly (like Macron) pro EU and thus is doubtless deliberately playing poorly by way of protest because with the UK leaving, France will have to pay more of the bill

Jose is doing a fantastic job for Roman Abramovich its almost as if he asked Jose to go there and really fuck things up and getting everyone at everyone else's throat.

Personally I think that Jose is doing the best with the team that he has. So many players in that squad are distinctly average or just playing for the wage and its rather obvious to see. They don't play for each other

They will be back but at the moment they are a million miles away from the likes of City and Liverpool. It's going to be a long road back . And do great players of the world really want to play under Jose anymore .?

We’ve been absolutely tripe all season - there’s nobody to blame other than the manager, his tactics don’t fit the players he’s bought as well as the defence being utter tripe.

He just on self destruct for the 12 mill pay off if he gets sacked which will get triggered once the 4th place is mathematically gone.

The players are good (bar lukaku, he’s never a Utd forward, technique and first touch is poor, can only bully defenders and hardly does that), player are good, but when Pogba looks up and doesn’t see a run into space, he has to hold onto to it longer, meaning he’ll have two CM’s into him.

We can’t keep saying we’re in transition, is that buzz word until we win the league again ??

My solution - part ways with Jose (which I regret as I really wanted him to be a success) but I can’t suggest another manager. Not sure Poch is upto it, so who else ? Don’t know, so we stick with Jose and players leave .....

Come on Big Sam, this job is bigger than the England one, don’t fuck this one up lol

2 high profiles CB’s are needed - and keep Jones/ Smalling as back up, let Bailey go as PX for on me the CB’s coming in, and continue to bulk up Lindlelof

In my dream word - Varane & Koubaly

As well as that - I’d even have a cheeky 60 mill at Kante, he’s being played out of position and is exactly what we need, Matic is tiring

1 Kante has just singed a new deal

2 Why would Kante want to leave Chelsea for a failing man u team who has probably no chance of champions league football next year ?

Costa Blanca Spain...

It is the end of an era of sorts and yes City will be up there for the foreseeable future, but it won't take much for Utd to bounce back.

Mourinho has to go now, I've defended him in the past but now I've pretty much given up on him.

He has lost the dressing room and I really don't see him getting it back. There are just too many inflated ego's and from what I'm reading (and being told by a couple of contacts that I still have) the atmosphere in the dressing room and on the training field is toxic.

However it's not just Maurinho who has to go. Pogba and Sanchez should be gone next month (hopefully) and some of the other players need a good coat of looking at. Lukaku and Matic are just not performing as they could (should) and why the hell he bought Fred to just sit on the bench only he knows. Young and Valencia are (at best) approaching their sell by dates as well.

Also while Woodward may be a commercial genius he has no idea about what it takes to be the main man at a top football club. So either he has to be replaced or a director of football brought in to take that side of the job away from him.

Bottom line is a clear out followed by a couple of mediocre seasons with a new man in charge of the rebuilding, but it can be done.

I feel the reason’s Man Utd are struggling are Jose Mourinho is too negative in his style of play and having a go at players in public is never a good idea.It looks like the players have stopped playing for him.A change of manager is needed for next season and we ( yes I am a Cockney Red ) can compete for a top 4 place but will take longer to catch Man City.

Even the most bias of fans all know that the team he'd of assembled would be beating all. If he could challange all before with the likes of Darren Fletcher,Roy Keane,Gary and Phil Neville,Phil Jones,Dennis ewin etc. Then what he would be doing with these players would've nothing short of beating teams to submission. Imagine him having Di Maria,Mata, pogba, marital, rashford and of course lakaku. We will never know but it's nice to dream. I've supported utd since i've been 8 yrs old. And i've never seen such a talented group of players play so boring and badly. But we all know it's down to the manager and not the players......

Of Jose played the way he does when utd are behind. Then we wouldn't be in the position we are now. Got nothing to do with his style. It's the fact he won't change during a game. You have to be flexible and have a plan b and c..not just a

Pogba and Sanchez need to go? PMSL. This guy you know. Did you see how they both played at their old clubs?. The system doesn't suit either. Why buy Sanchez to be a left back and why buy pogba to sit and be a defensive mf. That's neither of their positions and they can't do it.

Bailey is better than Jones. Anyone can see that. Being publicly berrated would knock any player. Smalling is s@#t. Only fergie believed in him. And that's only bcz he had vidic or Rio to play along side him.

Ok , Lukaku will always be shit , because he is . A player who can’t control the ball , can’t hit a bloody barn door from 10 meters , and absolute embarrassment .

Sanchez , a money grabbing shit who would sell his soul for the right price .

Pogba , a pompous twat who prances around giving the ball away as often as he makes a decent pass .

Rashford , so much potential , but for the most part looks like a rabbit in headlights playing for Utd .

Matic , a player who must have got color blind this season , he can’t seem to pass to his own team any more and has been abysmal .

Jones , wouldn’t get into a pub team , no skill , no class and loses his head three or four times every game .

Valencia is a class player , but pissed Mourinho off by liking a post that called for him to go .

Young is past his best .

DeGea was the best in the business , but he’s given up now .

This team remind me of the team in the mid seventies . Shocking , and not fit to wear the shirt .

The fact that Mourinho has allowed this to happen at such a great club means he should go , with Pogba , Sanchez , Lukaku and Fred closely behind him .

The sooner the better .

I'll set my stall out and say from the off that I'm a cityzen

But I'm not one of those supporters who will be an ABU or criticise out of spite etc.

In fact I find it rather sad (and somewhat comical) to see Utd languishing mid table.

Yes, you can blame the players, say they're not good enough, but playing as a team, BUT they are quality for the most part, and certainly demanded the high transfer fees that were paid for them.

It is down to the manager and coaching staff to get the best out of the resources you have.

And it's clear that Mourinho is not doing that.

You can blame a system and players out of position;

You can blame lack of motivation, or being prima donnas, under achieving etc.

But again that's down to the manager.

It's his job to put the system in place, get his players performing and get the results.

The buck stops with him, and utd can't afford to keep going as they are, because they're not going to be playing in the Europa league next season at this rate.

The time has come for Mourinho to go, the antics and circus he brings with himself are ruining what was once a great club

Yes both Pogba and Sanchez need to go.

There is no doubting their ability but they play when they want to.

As for how they played at their old clubs? To be fair Pogba was semi decent at Juventus but only because they gave him pretty much a free role. He just isn't disciplined enough to play in a modern midfield, and now his ego has outgrown his ability. Fergie knew what he was doing when he let him go the first time around.

Sanchez caused chaos in the dressing room when he was at Arsenal. He's like the kid we all knew who when he wasn't getting it all his own way took his bat and ball home. He's only first class at being a smacked arse.

To be fair to Mourinho he gave him the chance to play in his preferred position but he was still hopeless so now he uses him when and where he can.

As an outsider who’s not really interested in premier league football it makes me laugh that Jose has won more in 2 seasons at utd than klopp and the spurs manager but nothing is said about them any one with half a brain can see the back 4 are atrocious and didn’t Jose want to sign a couple of center halves ? I think it goes above the manager I think it’s the ceo he’s more interested in making money with sponsors etc etc but utd need to be careful that they don’t do a Liverpool and live in past history

. Last season the same defence conceded 29 goals in the premiership which was the second best in the premiership.Jose then spent most of pre season criticism the defenders saying they are not good enough yet of the 5 centre backs at Man Utd he bought 2 of them at 30 million each yet. I accept that the current defenders are not the best in the premiership but how is public criticism going to help them gain confidence when the Jose doesn’t rate them.

Part of your 5 a day

"We’ve been absolutely tripe all season - there’s nobody to blame other than the manager, his tactics don’t fit the players he’s bought as well as the defence being utter tripe.

Come on Big Sam, this job is bigger than the England one, don’t fuck this one up lol"

conte is available

I wouldn’t say they are so-called if they are putting that sort of effort in to watch a distant team . Totally agree thou with your sentiment. We’ve had a great run and it’s time for other teams to step up to the plate .... I’m a red through and through season ticket from 9 years old .... so I’ve seen Liverpool dominance ,, Arsenal , Chelsea ,, and now City . ... I’m not greedy but I’d rather we lost trying than the heartless tripe I currently watch

I'm a season ticket holder... Born 10 miles from the stadium...

OK.. Now I've got that bit out of the way....

I'm not happy because the football has been shit. However I'm well aware of the cycles that happen in football.... Its not our turn, it's that of City and Liverpoo(l)

It just so happens that they're out biggest rivals and yes, it's not overly pleasant. However.... I know (having watched us struggle from 1983 to 1992 aside from a few cups) that the good times will eventually return. I can look back on all of the games home and away and abroad that I've been to and have a smile to myself knowing I've been at some of the groundbreaking moments in our history.. I certainly hope I'm still around when those times return!

I don’t know whether the baby faced assasin will be good for us or not . What I will say is if he can get Utd playing the kind of football we played when he was there , that’s will be enough for now . And that’s what is needed more than anything at United .

It’s important we don’t do a Liverpool and live on past glories if they don’t win the title this season it will be 29 years since they last won for us it will be 6 seasons.I believe if we return to a more attacking play we can start to bridge the gap.I don’t believe a club like Man Utd should be appointing interim managers .I hope Ole can get us playing better and hopefully we can have a crack at getting 4th or even winning the champions league.

I know it's the season of goodwill etc but he's not the messiah, his record thus far has him where he was till they sacked mourinho..

It's about the board or Woodward trying to say look we are still Man U and have the same core beliefs when the reality of the post Sir Alex era has shown otherwise..

To be fair if you beat PSG over 2 legs then yeah any club can hope and wonder but where you are now is for a reason..

. It was never going to be easy replacing Sir Alex but the 3 managers we have appointed since he retired were more defensive minded.Yes Woodward has got to understand that its not about finishing top 4 and qualifying for the Champions League we should be looking to win the Premier League and having a good crack at the Champions League.

I guess you need a manager with enough clout to make the ref give you ten minutes of stoppage time when you need it, and also to never give a penalty against you. Otherwise you'll have to rely on talent like the rest of the league does...

I do think it will be a while before utd are back whwre they should be. Saying that no team can dominate for more than 15 years, because the manager won't stay around that long. Wenger, sir Alex etc were a rare breed of manager. But its funny to see the pool fans think they're world beaters because they're at the top after failing to finish above a jose team.

I follow a league 2 team, so the heights of the Premiership is not somewhere I normally worry about. However, that allows me to be neutral.

Man U had it in the bag for years, and before them it was Arsenal , After them it ws Chelsea and many other teams have had their fair share of being No 1.

The past couple of years have been a great thing for football, because no one team has been crowned champions before the first ball was kicked. Man U have slipped down, Arsenal have all but fallen off the radar, Chelsea are all at sea and Liverpool have come from nowhere to be this seasons 2nd place. And as for Man City, when I was a kid you never heard of them. Throw into the mix the Leicester city year, then it goes to show that no one is really in command of the Premiership, and it is therefore good for football to have an open race.

It gives those of us further down the pyramid hope that we might one day get there.

I like Wenger but like Mourinho he’s had his day . Guardiola has shown the rest the type of winning football that we need to take on . I think we are three years away from City and Liverpool currently regardless of the Solskjaer effect . We need to grow the youth system back to what it was . Get rid of the high paid mediocrity that litters the team .

. What with drawing Barcelona in the Champions League , getting knocked out by Wolves in the FA Cup and a tricky run in to get top 4 I hope our season doesn’t start to fall apart.Yes we can beat Barcelona over 2 legs as it’s not a vintage Barcelona side but neither is it a vintage Man Utd side.

The last three games have been as bad as I ever seen United . Shocking , slow , lacking leadership , and totally crap . We were outplayed by Watford and lucky to win . Pogba has been awful , as has Martial .

I truly hope Ole can sort this out quickly before our season completely dies on its arse .

Lol ... well we’ve lost 3 and luckily won one in the last four games . Hardly good stuff is it ?

The thing that’s bugging me is how no one seems to be noticing how Pogba is coasting in every game , yet Ole wants to build his team around him .

Who cares? United are light years behind City & Liverpool and OGS isn’t the man to build a squad to catch them either.

Having now lost 7 of the last 9 games we are now in a run that’s the worst since 1962 .

What an absolute shambles and an embarrassment we have become . It pains me to say this , but this current team is the worst I’ve seen , and that includes the early 70s when we were relegated . At least that team tried their best , which is more than can be said for Pogba , Sanchez , and Lukaku . The money they are being paid to coast as they are is disgusting and how they sleep at night is beyond me . I would be absolutely ashamed if I was taking that kind of money to turn what was once a great club into the laughing stock then have become .

I’m not a United fan and my team isn’t in the PL so I have no axe to grind. However OGS was the wrong man for the job.

I get that he’s a United legend and fans were thrilled with his appointment but taking a guy from the Norwegian first division who unsuccessfully managed Cardiff City is a terrible appointment. City and Liverpool have modern, progressive managers whereas United have an inexperienced manager who in tactics and overall football philosophy is another Mourinho. I’m amazed that they didn’t break the bank to get Pochettino from Spurs. He’s exactly the kind of manager that United need.

"Rebuild with a new manager?

When Ole was appointed, we were 12 points behind 4th place with no chance of CL next season. We were staring an embarrassment v PSG in the next round of the CL.

With the performances from the team when he got us to contending for CL and beating PSG, he had to be offered the job permanently.

There is though only so much you can do with the squad that he inherited. In my opinion, several of the players are not good enough, there’s often an upturn in fortunes when a new manager arrives, to go from playing low intensity football to high tempo for 90 mins has burnt the players out, the cracks have appeared that we’re there before he arrived.

I am a Utd supporter, and yes I’m still uncertain about how successful Ole will be long term. But he’s improved the atmosphere at OT, is bringing back some Utd values and I hope gets it right in the transfer market.

My choice was Pochettino, but didn’t think we would get him this summer.

tbh pep would struggle to get a tune out of that side as an outsider I look at United and think how many of them would get in city or Liverpool? I hope they stick with ogs he’s a united legend and I’m sure he will turn it around maybe take him 2 or 3 seasons

Pep wouldn't buy some of the dross that Moyes/Van Gaal/Mourinho have bought.

That's one of the main issues, whoever is in charge is basically working with three different managers players.

Ole is certainly not the answer long term, and I would be surprised if he is kept on past December.

There is no Champions League to tempt players and the Norwegian isn't much of a draw. It was incredibly short sighted to give him the job on a full time basis.

The rebuilding job is absolutely massive.

Cockney Red fan here I wanted Man Utd to wait until the end of the season before deciding who to appoint as manager that way Ole could be judged on what he had achieved from December to May not up until March. He would have been on my shortlist of 4 two been Pochettino and the Juventus manager after sounding out first Poch then Juventus manager if neither were interested then I would have gone for Ole or if Ed Woodward was brave enough Rafa ( Newcastle manager ).
