Yeah, in your case either work. Personally I don't use Babe or Hun with people I don't know, including on here, as its too familiar, but I do wonder why people get so wound up by things that aren't intended to be insulting.

Yes... I dislike babe and princess... I'm used to hun though, because it's actually how most people are usually addressed where I come from. Even the parish priest will call people hun

I tend to find terms like Dabe and Princess very false and smarmy from people I don't know. It's overfamiliar and I don't like it.
