Only had one term in office but seemed to make a bigger impact than his son, well, saying no more tax rises then goes and puts taxes up being one of them.

Bristol East

My indelible memory of him is not a good one.

He was vice-president when the US Navy shot down Iran Air 655, an airbus on a scheduled flight from Tehran to Dubai on July 3, 1988.

290 passengers and crew killed. 66 children among the victims.

Did the US show any remorse? None.

The crew of the USS Vincennes got a ticker-tape welcome home and the captain received a medal.

“I will never apologize for the United States of America, ever. I don’t care what the facts are," Bush said in August 1988.

290 innocent people dead, a terrible mistake, and he comes out with that?

That remark is generally considered to have been the trigger for the plot to blow up Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie on December 21, 1988.

Another 270 innocent people dead.

So when it comes to RIP, I'll remember the victims of Iran Air 655 and Pan Am 103 before I'll pay any respects to this person.

Is this really the place to voice your political views about the son of a man who has just passed away? I suggest that the politics forum would be a more suitable place to start a debate about Bush jnr and Blair!

I suggest on a bush thread is a place to discuss bush

Like I said no bush deserves any respect

He illegally armed Saddam and we all know how that went

Like I said both bushes and Blair should be rotting for life in prison

Yes.but. Thousands and thousands of people did because of their politically motivated reasons. So the opinion that they should be in clink at least for illegal warmongering is not a new one, or particularly unpopular, or without merit.

Personally I wouldn't pass a sniffle if one or both of them got assasinated. And I am vehemently against eye for an eye. However.

Some mass murdering fuckheads don't really deserve to live because of the mass slaughter they've engendered with both eyes open.

That's disrespectul to his mourning son, but how many mourning families for unnecessary reasons have these cunts(pardon my French) created? And are still creating?

Plus Bush Snr said he loved Nixon. An even bigger mass murderer.

All things in context.

Shit. Definitely not gonna get a fuck now am I..

Still. Some things are more important, eh.

"And can anyone say some nice things about him for a change ?"

Anyone who carries the mantle of leadership in such a world arena, will always face such vitriolic hatred and criticism.

Got to love arm chair experts and spin doctors who can lead a protest but nothing else.

Respect to the man regardless of perceived successes or failures. He stood up to be counted.
