Been browsing the forums at quiet moments over the festive period and quite intrigued by some of the _iews on here for such a liberal lifestyle so was just wondering how many people on here read the Daily Mail?

I suspect that it's a little too liberal and forward thinking for many of the posters on here.

dont be sorry,i feel the same...get really annoyed by ppl who say they read but aren't influenced by it.They are still giving money to a misogynistic,racist rag which can have hang peodoes on one page then another full page spread of suri cruise on the next.

Still mourning the los of isosty here...a piece of DM pettiness.

I am not saying the mail or sun are correct in everything they put. I also read the FT does that make me a capatilst. I suppose it does.

I am shocked that some people would not meet others because they read a certain kind of paper....

yeah couldn't possibly get on with tory boy mike.

That'd be the same mike who i've known for over 4 years and is one of a very small number of swingers to be on my facebook. Like i said on another thread differing opinions is not always a problem tp friendsip.

My sister lives in Italy. One of our daily routines is emailing each other articles from the Mail...we absolutely love it, it's an unending supply of entertainment for us.

Having lived in Italy for over 22 years and definitely being in a minority my sister is constantly shocked by the Mail and the reader comments...she doesn't experience any negativity in Milan.

As I said, it amuses us...we "love" it.

I'm a legal adviser for a trade union, my sister is a song writer musician...you couldn't get two more left wing (and rather bright, if I say so myself) people. Judging people on what they read is just plain daft.

The Daily Mail is fine, if you know how to read a paper.

All newspapers have a leaning, DM is to the right (Express, Sun, Telegraph, Times), Guardian to the left (Daily Mirror, Observer), hence they tend to run each other up.

If you know which way your paper leans, then you can compensate when you come across opinions posted in the stories. The opinion stories tend to be nearer the front.

Of course the above is my thoughts

can't say i've ever bought the weekday paper, but the sunday one has a good travel section and some interesting magazine articles

just skip the rest !

i also read the guardian but have the sun and daily star around so people think i'm uneducated. Sometimes the daily sport is a good read but there is hardly any truth in it

Haven't purchased any Sunday paper since my belowed NOTW shut down. I didn't buy another snoozepaper when the NOTW was in circulation so see no reason to buy another rag now. Occasionally buy The Sun if I'm out an about in the morning, and only then after glancing at Page 3 first to see if it's worth closer study.

not tried the daily mail,but one paper i could not stand is the daily mirror,ugh!,the readers of that rag are so loud and self opiniated!,always reckon they are right and other peoples opinions are not to be listened to at all!.

I'm not normally so opinionated and vocal!

But every time I read the Daily Mail, I so shocked and angered by their narrow and judgmental _iew of the world- that in my personal opinion I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have much in common with someone who read it and thought it was ok! And If I don't have anything in common with them, why would I go to bed with them?

When I was at uni we were encouraged to read 5 different papers a day...and look at how the different papers reported the same stories..

Some people like to read things just because it amuses them how things are portrayed.. I only tend to read newspaper articles when I find them on various forums.. and I dont find the ones from the daily mail any worse than any other papers.

Oh god I remember having to do that with a cross section of papers when I was studying Sociology... it was the most brain numbing activity.

Some of my activities always me to be where there are 5-6 daily papers available to read. It's great being able to read them all and see their slant on the political/social stories.

Let's you understand how papers can and do influence the not so bright in society.

All I know about the Daily Mail is how people use it as a put down on the forums when they think they are losing a debate.

For me, I think as adults, we could all read papers /watch news / read the internet but still make our minds up about things....and realise that not everything is gospel as to the way it is being reported.

I honestly believe so.....

Isn't the opinion of a Phycisist more valid than a laymans on topic of physics?

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but not everyone's opinion is valid....though people may not like to be told such.....

A physicists opinion, and factual knowledge, will almost certainly be more valid than anyone else's on the matter of physics. That said , all physicists do not agree, some diametrically so.

Whether a physicists opinion on a non specialist topic is anymore valid is doubtful.

Eg I asked a hundred physicists whether Beethoven was better than Wagner.

Thirteen said Mozart.

On the matter of big bangs, just how much do physicists really know? They're still looking for some 76% of it.

more a case of the mail jumping on a band wagon imho...

their usual stance is far from that which the said 'headline' would suggest..

It's not just about political leanings, it's about styles of journalism. I'm pretty left of centre but have no problem with a proper right wing paper - the Times is generally fine, for example.

The reason people are set against the Mail is that it sets out very deliberately and cynically to sell papers by stirring up fear and hatred.

I have never bought a news paper based on the headline...

I have over the years regularly read most newspapers, and seem to have settled for the Daily Mail. Loads of features and articles and some news too , all for 55p

PS, it's a great fly swat too.
