Computer help please

I deleted some programmes on my laptop today and since then my cursor keeps jumping around the screen while I'm trying to type.

I wanted to delete Surf Canyon, which I did but deleted another one called Syncapation??? or something like that in error.

I've looked in recycle bin but it's not there.

Can anyone help me please?

Jack, by and large nothing is ever deleted, maybe overwritten if yer very unlucky.

There is a free progam available called "Recuva" which searches for all programs previously deleted. It takes minutes to find and load. A few more to run.

It should find your missing file quite easily, show whether it is fully recoverable ( i'd wager it will be ) and then you simply restore.

You might have to do a system restore......its in control panel and tools.....restore to your last backed up settings......hope that helps...Pete

System restore sounds like the best bet. But make sure everything you have on your PC is backed up.

I'd go with system restore . Restore it to wen u deleted file and it should work hope it helps

Set the restore point to yesterday and all should be as it was... yesterday.

Reading the OP again, System Restore will work for programmes that have been removed/added.

However, it leaves "files" in their current state, otherwise it would restore a large number of genuinely "deleted" files everytime System Restore was run.

For anyone who has deleted a "file" in error a programme like "Recuva" will work if used promptly. It is somewhat enlightening to see what has been previously been deleted and is still sat there.

Is a type of laptop that you can disable the touch pad for moving the cursor?

When on a laptop, the wrists sometimes moves the cursor, a big pain when typing and not looking a the screen...

Let us know what you did.

be very carfull about system restore ,on the more up to date laptops system restore will wipe your system right back to factory settings ,unless you no what you are about dont ,best pay for someone to sort it should be no more than £30 ish

System restore is your best bet, set to yesterday as said.

As a side note it's really surreal to read an IT help forum thread peppered with dirty pics for the avatars lol
