Why do 85% of profiles say something like this?

Is it to make the non wanted race feel shit about themselves?

And often followed by no offence/not racist. but how would you expect someone to feel after they read they ain't wanted because of the colour of your skin. Of course you're being racist, nothing to do with you're preference.

Seeing race requests on a profile is really off putting whether its my race they want or not. To me. Just shows youre racist and judgemental.

Just how I feel on the subject anyway. No offence

It’s a toughie isn’t it, if someone really doesn’t want to meet any age, race or gender etc then doesn’t it just save everyone’s time and effort to say that up front?

Maybe it is racism, maybe it isn’t. But would anyone who doesn’t meet their criteria want to meet or message them anyway? Use it as a filter and avoid.

I don't see it that often. I think it's a far lower percentage than that.

If someone has a preference to the skin colour of those they want to have sex with, aren't they entitled to state it? I could understand it, if it was integrating with different races in general, but they are stating their sexual preference. For all we know, they could have friends of different races, they are just not attracted.

It's not sexist to meet with one gender to the exclusion of the other. It's not ageist to exclude people of a certain age range. So it is not racist to exclude a certain race. However, if you go out of your way to mention negative things about said gender or age or race then you're a bigot loser who clearly wants to insult others. I find it's only a problem when they follow up their stated preference with some bullshit like "I had too many bad experiences with (insert specific group)". Oh well .. my profile can be your example OP.

As it's highlighted on my bio who I'm looking for and who I'm not attracted too .

Also it's personal preference not a race issue .. I've been polite about it too and aiming to avoid to offend anyone .

However it's all written down- got many messages from people who I know sexually I'm not attracted to & and the chemistry just not going to work.

I don't see any issue with that when someone clear and straight about it what /who they are looking for! We can't be everyone's tea .

What people say on profiles has never bothered me. It's their personal choice what they want to do. Criteria/preferences etc

Don't sweat the small stuff. Engage with people compatible with you. Don't waste time/energy on the negatives. Focus on the good things and move a step closer to achieving the reasons why you joined fab.

I don’t see why someone can’t specify their preferences if that’s what they wish to do. I don’t get out my pram for profiles that are only looking for BBC for example, it’s just their taste after all. I haven’t got anything on my profile, but I’m not interested in meeting Black Guys in the odd occasion I just say thanks but no thanks. On the other hand I have plenty of work colleagues and friends from the Black and Asian Communities, none of them think I’m racist.

Having said all that, it is slightly curious that you see this but don’t see (for example) not interested in blond/brunette etc.

People have racial preferences in the same way people have other overriding preferences for other physical attributes?

I've had an overriding preference towards Black woman since I was a child, I realise this is unusual, this makes life more awkward than it could be for me, as it severely limits my options, but I'm comfortable enough with it, & I certainly don't see myself as a racist (or self hating, something that has been cited before).

There's a handful of White/Oriental women I have a degree of physical attractiveness to, but I can't imagine sleeping with them, for whatever reason.

It's also worth pointing out, there's a big difference between Not finding people with certain physical attributes unattractive (including race), & hating entire groups of people. That's a whole different kettle of fish..

Sorry but have to disagree with it being racist and of all the profiles we've been through would say it is 10%.

We are an asian couple and now and again come across profiles that say White only or no asian men or no black/asians. It's a preference. Some don't like slim some don't like large, some don't like black, some don't like brown/white etc. We read and move on, simple as that.

I think you're reading too much into it, if they're racist then that's their loss for being narrow minded.

We have no skin colour preference, we're not, erm 'fattist' we're just not attracted to larger people as stated in our profile but that doesn't mean we dislike larger people in general if you get the gist.

If a statement is one of fact, rather than abuse, them the ops statement asking if it's to make people feel shit is missing two points -

1. It's a statement that they will not meet specific people, thus messages would be pointless etc

2. People are responsible for their own emotions, if they face rejection.

If profiles include racist hate speech, it would be abhorrent but a separate issue.

But everyone knows that people have their own preferences and personal interests. If people are looking for something specific but don't state it, they are limiting themselves to a great extent.

I’m looking for something specific and I put it on my profile in order to reduce messages from those I’m not seeking currently. Does it reduce them? Yes. Does it stop them completely? No.

It’s no different to seeking blondes, BBW’s, tall women, short men, or anything else that someone is physically attracted to.

Also, for me it can’t be racist when I’m attracted to all races, I simply seek something different that turns me on more.

Those who call it racist are no doubt the same type to get all uncomfortable when someone mentions the word “black” or talks about race.

I find those who scream “racist” are the same ones stating “I don’t see colour, I see people” which is a bullshit PC get out phrase.

Also you cannot police or tell other people how to run their profiles or what they should, or shouldn’t do.

It’s not your place to do that, you are not admin.

If someone doesn’t like someone stating their preference on their profile they are welcome to block or ignore.
