I'm not sure on this particular etiquette

Hi guys n gals.

Looking for some friendly advice.

So, I'm not one of these jerks who will send message after message, nor do I turn nasty when rejected.

So if it's a no thank you, I thank them for their time and that's, that.

If the message has been read without a reply. I delete it and move on

However, when I send a message and it goes unread for a few weeks. Is it safe to assume they never saw it at all, and in that case is it ok to send another message at a later date?

If you don't ask you don't get but be realistic

Send one more as we find that when we get an influx of messages it can be lost in the throng.

We try and reply to all messages even if it is a thank you but no thank you.

Good luck op

Or just delete your sent message folder each time so you'll never have to double guess that

I miss loads of messages. I don’t see a problem in messaging twice if it’s unread. Besides I only go through mine every few days so it maybe they haven’t even noticed it yet.

This is my point though. If the message goes unread and going under the assumption they receive so many messages it's simply gone unnoticed in the mix, are they technically being pestered, on one hand yes they are coz it's multiple messages from the same person on the other hand, no they're not coz they never saw the previous message(s) in the first place

leeds

Sometimes it can be missed, if you don’t delete them they just add up and push the last one down the list... you can have 35 messages in your inbox and not “see” the little yellow box until you’ve deleted some read ones...

There is a good chance. And happrns in my experience. I say give it a soak period of a couple of weeks and check if they are still active reasently on the site. If so send another message if your are intrested in them.

Can I express that when you have a no thanks message that you just delete because when you reply thanks for replying all your doing is adding to the throng of messages that can't be got through and then cause us to mass delete.

It's my pet hate and has actually caused me to stop replying now

There and to the left a bit

I'd try not to overthink it too much OP - there are too many ponderables at play, for example they may have read it and marked it unread, they may have looked at your profile without reading the message (which many do) and decided you're not for them, or any other number of scenarios including the "it got buried" one.

Just use some common sense and leave a suitable space of time if you're going to send a follow up - maybe wait till they're on-line to send another.

The key, as you've already said, is not to pester
