How do you pass the time?

Sunderland

So I’m in the train to London. I’ve already watched a film, I’m listening to music, wandered the length of the train checking out my fellow travellers. The majority of which are now sleeping. I’ve had; coffee, tea, mince pie and crisps. Had my sunglasses on and off like I’m doing some weird Hokey Cokey, looking out the window the way the sun is today.

Mightn’t sound it but I do enjoy train travel. How do you pass your journeys?

Lex

I usually watch a film or catch up on things I’ve missed on telly. Sneak a peek on fab and whatspp my hubby!

I’m resisting messaging the hubby constantly knowing he’s at work. That’s always the temptation

Sounds like a good trip.

I did a few 3 day trips on a train from New York to California & back again.

My carry on was filled with books, that I then left behind one at a time as I finished them. Hope someone else enjoyed them as much as I did.

Between the view (at times) & reading, I had a great time

It’s always nice to find something like that.

A couple of trips ago I left a series of short stories printed on card, written by friends, everywhere I went. Tube, coffee shops, British Library etc.

Quick tip: If on a long distance train journey and you (as I do) have a tendency to be rocked off to sleep by the trains motion, always remember to put a nippy note on your forehead with ‘Please wake me up at *insert station here*’

your imagination

I do lots of long train journeys... Taking in the scenery is always good, and, unless I've someone to chat with, I usually catch up on some reading.

I've also been known to do my hair and makeup on the train while travelling to events My makeup bag will be out on the table, I'll be tidying up my brows with a tweezers, and my hair straighteners will be plugged in. Particularly if I'm catching an early train... I'd rather have an extra 30 minutes sleep than wake up earlier to do it all before I travel
