FAB CRAP RUNNERS CLUB - WEEK FORTY-EIGHT

WEEK FORTY-EIGHT!!!

.

MOTTO: We run #LikeAToddlerChasingAPug

.

.

.

Hey lovely Fab Crap Runners!

It's Week Forty Eight!!!

.

.

.

How is everyone doing?

.

.

.

EXPLANATION AND ETHOS:

EVERYONE is welcome in the Fab Crap Runners' Club (the crapper the better).

From 1st January, a bunch of Fabbers began improving their fitness through running. None of them were natural athletes but they did it anyway.

.

.

.

FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS:

"Couch to 5k" (C25K) is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (Mrs T (not me!) used Get Running). But you can join this thread to get fit by any means including walking and cycling - all are welcome. If you're expecting to be utterly crap at it (I mean reeeeeeeeeally bad), you're in the right place. Join the thread, tell us what your aim is and we'll cheer you on each week, just for trying.

.

.

.

FOR MORE EXPERIENCED RUNNERS:

Tell us what you’re up to with your running, your training and your races. Let’s us know your highs and lows. Please cheer on the newbies and give advice if they ask.

.

.

.

FCRC SOCIAL PARKRUN

WD is doing a doodle poll to find out where everyone can get to with ease before organising the next social.

https://doodle.com/poll/77nghmke7uwunrwy

Again, it's completely anonymous and you can vote for as many options as you would like.

Hopefully the regions are self-explanatory (Sorry if you think your county should be in a different region!)

.

.

AND FINALLY:

Who is working towards a specific goal? Tell us your progress

Strava couldn't find gps and I cba waiting for it so I went with c25k week 2....baby steps! but I did further as she'd finished before I'd run the circuit, old strava says 4.9 km 115 elevation

Its a start

Park run volunteering on Saturday and a local 5 miler yesterday. The planned for aim of sub 40 was curtailed after last week's illness and a more sociable run with my girlfriend. Highlight of the run was my girlfriend being a few lengths nbehind me on a crowded bit hearing 2 women discuss how they were focusing on my arse for motivation

Been at the doctors this morning and have the okay to keep running g while they try and work out what is wrong with my gut

Did something different tonight, and actually did some road running rather than my recent trail efforts

Was good to be back in my roadies

Managed an 8 miler in 1 hour and 6 minutes. It's soooo different to being off road

Since my marathon I’ve really lost my running mojo, add in that I desperately need new trainers and the most I’ve done since has only been a couple of 10ks in the first weeks then just 5ks since.

I need a kick up the arse and some focus!

It will affect your gait and your foot placement which could affect your ankles and knees. Low arches aren’t too bad at all though, you can pick up a pair of trainers with decent support with little bother.

Did you get a gait analysis?

I just went into sports direct and there was a footboard that heated up and showed that one of my feet is nearly flat and the other flat to normal but there was only 1 pair of running shoes for flat feet and they were mens! No-one available to talk to so I left.

My running shoes I bought last year from go outdoors as most of my running is off road and they're salomons, the same as my walking boots. I spend most of my life in flat boots or vans

OK, that gel pad is a basic guide to feet, but is also influenced by posture. You'll also find that Sports Direct staff haven't a Scotby Doo about it

Please, please, please get yourself down to a decent shop with properly trained staff who know what they're talking about.

Try and get a gait analysis done - run on a treadmill and get yourself videoed - and get advised on what sort of shoe would suit you best, and where there's a good range of shoes to try.

Personally I find that Brooks Ravenna suit me best for mild over pronation, but that's just me
