"The only thing my hubby doesn’t do is iron. Not because he can’t, but because I’m quicker. He cooks, cleans and refuses to let me do certain jobs (toilet cleaning, bin emptying etc) His “Scottish lasagne” is to die for. We are a partnership. Know what each other are thinking, finish each other’s sentences. In my humble opinion, if marriage ISNT like that, you’re doing it wrong " My other half does loads around the house, more than me probably. But off topic, I feel I need to hear more about this Scottish lasagne!

They both can’t do the same things as long as they have their responsibilities and are doing their best that’s all that matters

"I know someone who's 70 and refuses to retire because she doesn't like spending time with her husband and he doesn't pull his weight around the house. She's the most miserable person I know and that's saying something yet the remedy lays in her own hands." That's incredibly sad,I'd rather stay single than feel like that.

She resents him and his entire family but won't open up a dialogue that might make things better. I was talking to someone recently who had an acquaintance who hated her husband so much she rubbed his toothbrush up and down her anus. They're divorced now...

"Ooh a man bashing thread, how novel on Fab! (just kidding OP I know this thread is slightly tongue in cheek and deliberately provocative) Obviously a survey of a handful of friends giving their one sided biased version of events over a glass of wine is hardly scientific but I can honestly say that we share all chores here, cooking, ironing, cleaning, gardening etc. We both work full time so it’s only fair (is that also the case with your friends, btw?) There’s a small list of things I’ll tend to exclusively do (mainly manual task : clean the fish tank out, most of the DIY tasks etc) and there’s a small list of things she’ll exclusively do to (mainly administrative: filing all the household bills away, making sure important documents like passports are where they should be). " You know I like to shake the bottle. Reactions are more interesting than apathy. Actually in my head it was a woman bashing question. Why the heck do they get married to someone that they moan about all the time?! Yes they all both work full time yet the men seem to do nothing. The men are the clever ones- they're sat on their arse playing Xbox while the wife brings their beer and irons their shirts. Your mates sound amazing. I'm wondering why my mates think I need a man. Maybe they want me to be miserable like they are.

"I Love Mark, I had a very abusive and shitty life before I met him. He totally changed my life and gave me reason to start enjoying life again. I had 2 kids when we met and he took them on as his own and with his help they have grown into 2 fine young adults with family of their own. We have 2 kids together who are great respectful kids too. I'm disabled and he does everything for me, he cooks , he cleans, he's the family taxi driver and he does all this while fitting in his own pleasure of following Celtic F.C. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCybLfdqtYs " And eating pies on the telly.
