I would love to invent paint colour names!

Just been browsing Farrow & Ball swatches and they have some beautiful names in their collection.

Is there a paint colour name you particularly remember, or one that you would invent?

On the F&B swatch I liked the name “Mole’s breath” and “Sulking room pink” and “Arsenic”.

Near Carmarthen

Thousands of slight variations of Magnolia called 'Barely White' so that they can market to aspiring social climbers at 4 times the price of Screwfix Trade magnolia.

Cynical moi?

I remember my mum in the late 1970's putting African Mud Hut onto the wood chip on our lounge walls. It was a shitty shade of light brown Went great with her Blood red suede sofa

My first car was "safari grey". I've been on several safaris and I've never seen that colour grey. Dead hippo calves come close, but I can't believe they named a car-colour after them.

Somewhere In The Ether…

Hmmm....some nicer names; ‘Fairy gently passing wind’ - a sort of pale, cerulean blue.

‘Badger chewing thoughtfully on a slug’ - A muddy ochre hue and finally, ‘Unicorn Defecating’ - A pearlescent effect paint much like Abalone

There is but you definitely can't say it these days even though it has nothing to do with the modern abuse its used for.

Anyway - third time lucky!!

There could be themes: eg a fruity orange to lemon transformation : Citrus Mix?

Or a futuristic silver to blue : Sapphire & Steel etc
