It must take a lot of courage to go shopping dressed.

There's no unwritten code as far as I'm concerned.

I would hope that if you would be treated the same as any other customer. However the changing rooms could cause difficulties as they're often all grouped together. Do you intend trying things on?

I go in charity shops quite a bit and I have noticed a lot of single blokes looking through womems clothing lately...but i doubt you will get too much lingerie in there..

I'm thinking of all possible situations here. I think you need to choose your time and choose your shop. I imagine Ann Summers would be a better bet than Marks and Spencer on a busy Saturday.

I think some women will object to you being in a changing room next to them if they are having a bra fitting. Marks do have lockable changing rooms in some places though.

Where are you thinking of going?

Was thinking Marks as I know it’ll do a fitting there, and I’d like measured properly.

Would try and pick a quieter time for first occasion

Hi, it’s just a matter of confidence.

One thing I realised when out and about, that yes, your ( we) are ‘different ‘ but no-one cares.

If your in any doubt, go to Tesco/ Sainsbury’s/ Asda and build up confidence.

The staff are well trained, and I can assure you that as a group we are not difficult customers.

I’m 6’ plus, stick out like a sore thumb, do I care, yes, do I get looks, yes, sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s scary!

There are laws in place now that are making massive strides forward for the TG community.

Go for it!

Btw When your there, there tights Iirc pack of 5 pairs at £3,00 and there briefs at £7.00 are superb value.

Just wear sensible clothes and heels.

As others have said, I don't see why not, you are a human being like everyone else! If any shops are iffy about you wanting to use changing rooms, some have a "disabled" changing room that is seperate. Its upsetting that you'd even have to think about using a disabled changing room rather than the women's as I wouldn't bat an eyelid if you were in the next cubicle along from me, much rather you than some women you see in there who have zero regard for others. I say go for it, build your confidence we're only here once!

Bravissimo have very nice and well trained staff. I have Aspergers and don't like my back being touched but they're very careful when they do my measurements and they bend over backwards to make me feel comfortable. I can't imagine they'd be anything less than understanding and nice to you too- you're just someone else who wants to buy nice lingerie and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You're doing nothing wrong, society just hasn't quite caught up yet.

With M and S go and have a word with the fitter and book an appointment for yourself. I'm sure there'd be no objection. I'm sure it wouldn't be their first CD fitting either. Good luck x

I'm not thinking so much of the staff I imagine most chain stores have trained their staff in this area.

I'm thinking if this is the ops first lingerie shopping trip they would want it to be as stress free as possible. The general public are mixed in their attitudes.

I don't dress out. But if am out buying I just ask .If it's a female only shop. Bra shopping not really a problem. Because most shops a staff member would just stand outside and let others know. And if it's a shop for both sexes. Then just pick stuff and try on . I don't know about knickers I just know my size. And don't try.

But as for dresses skirts shoe's I just try on. It's good if you have a female friend. But if not just ask .
