That d*unken ill-advised tattoo?

The girl / boy that got away?

The one that didn’t get away but by jiminy you should have discarded them long, long ago ...

If only you’d looked after yer teef...

Do you have any regrets? Or has life’s journey shaped you into the person you are now and you wouldn’t change a thing?

What would you do differently given the chance!?

Me? I wish I wasn’t so painfully awkward as a teenager / in my 20s. I definitely missed out on a lot of fun through it - looking back so entirely unnecessarily!

What about you?

My only regrets are where I've hurt someone. I often think about what I could have done differently. I don't go out to intentionally hurt anyone but I've made stupid or bad choices.

yep! That can be tough, especially when it’s a simple misunderstanding and wholly unintentional. Easily done at times though.

I regret and don't regret at the same time. If I had left my ex when I should have (a big regret), I wouldn't be in England now, with the love of my life.

If I had extended my summer in Alaska through the winter (another thing I regret), things might have been so very different.

My regrets tend to only be the things I didn't do, but if I had--I wouldn't be who and where I am today.

Maybe try seeing it as a penance? Set a limit to it and make a conscious decision to cast off the sack-cloth and ashes after whatever you deem to be an appropriate time, and forgive yourself. You might get a decent night's sleep once your penance is done. ((((hugs)))) my friend!

Forgiving ourselves is always the hardest thing to do. If we don't we just remain trapped by our past our emotions our self reflection.

Be kind to yourself. The past cannot be changed. And only you can change your future.

If I could have my life over again, then I would ljve my life totally differently.

Having said that though, I try not to look back with regrets as you can't change the past. Life is an adventure, with good and bad. You need the bad to appreciate the good. Don't look back in anger, just keep looking ahead and keep moving forwards.

You aren't being punished though, that is your mind thinking that. Don't allow yourself to think that way, that's self destruction. Try and look at the positives in life instead.

I should have turned left, when I had the chance - it was easier to go right... but that is one choice

I wish I sought professional help to understand

Took me 30plus years to disown a family member that has given all around misery thru selfish and ignorant acts.

Pretty much one of the things you've listed already. I have anxiety due to events over the past year and I am now that painfully awkward guy in his twenties, I was quite cheeky and people generally found it endearing. But now I just don't really know what to say, I am ok chatting to someone one to one in a pub or whatever but when it comes to approaching someone in a group I now have to give myself a pep talk and that's if I even go through with it.

If life was too cosy and comfortable I seem to have the uncanny knack for unconsciously hitting the destruct button to create a major crisis in my life. Often through really poor judgement or violating what I imagined were my values.

However those crises despite being filled with regret, guilt and remorse at the time often opened up a new chapter in my life and proved to be transformational moments. So in hindsight I don’t regret them but do wish I could learn the lessons in an easier way.

Life is too short to have regrets. I’m a strong believer that everything in life happens for a reason, and shapes our future. If you’ve made the wrong decision about anything there’s no point in regretting it, just move on and learn from your mistakes

That's interesting as I feel the opposite way, I regret that me and my boy are stuck in a dead and shitty small town as it would hurt my parents too much if we left. And I guess once he is old enough to leave I will stay as they will be really elderly. I do love them though. But I have told my boy, when he chooses uni go far far from here if he wants to, there is nothing for him here.
