I’ve lost it! I don’t feel Christmassy at all

Every year so far I’ve been Christmassy since October time, it’s the middle of November and some may say it’s too early...but I’m usually knee deep in Christmas spirit by this time!

I’ve been playing Christmas music, chatting about Christmas, trying to hype myself up etc. KingC4611 is even considering letting me put the tree up tomorrow!

What else can I do?

Is anyone else feeling this way?

Yes.

The uncomfortable financial pressures

The unfestive atmosphere

The lack of seasonal spirit

And the wierd high temperatures and sunshine for mid November have undoubtedly taken their toll on the by now supposedly winter atmosphere.

Meh indeed.

It's absolutely killed it off.

You could have had mulled wine and Christmas cake in shops in June and you'd have gotten the same effect and reaction.

Where's the dark wintery nights where you need a hat and scarf and the threat of snow and the atmospheric bustling around shops!!

Online shopping has got a lot to answer for too!!

Do you have a shop dedicated to Christmas tree decorations?

I had a browse around one recently and left with a Christmas ballerina tree decoration for my granddaughter.

I’m full of Christmas spirit! Preparations are well and truly underway, presents have been bought although I’ve not quite finished. Tomorrow I will pop a Christmas film on, have a Baileys and wrap some presents.

I’m looking forward to Christmas markets and craft stalls, singing Christmas carols and spending time with family and friends. Love it

The second the clock strikes midnight to start December, Fairytale of New York goes on and it all starts.

Don't allow myself to feel Christmassy till before then!

No! Because its not even December yet...

How ridiculous to say you haven't got into the Christmas spirit yet when its only mid November

My tree and decorations don't come out of the cupboard until the 1st of December although i have started watching Christmas films already

Just not seeing it or feeling it.

It's a dying tradition if I'm honest.

The look of disappointment on kids faces when they unwrap something that's not the most expensive games console or game to accompany a console is heartbreaking and soul destroying.

Expensive and materialistic is the way Christmas has gone overview the last few years and it's just going to get worse as it goes on.

The one that brought genuine unhappiness is our local church will not be doing Christmas Mass this year due to lack of support.

First time ever that it's been known for Christmas mass not to be held.

They won't even be lighting up the tree out on the grounds.

your imagination

I'm absolutely bursting to put up my Christmas decorations It's verging on a compulsion. I've started unboxing things 'just to make sure they're ok/working' and have my gold and silver spray paints, ribbons and other garland, wreath and centre-piece making materials all set aside ready for action. I've my trailing ivy, holly, spruce, pinecone, and heather foraging spots picked out.

I've even been boring one or two forumites with photos of Christmas mugs and cushion covers I'm excited to use...

Making myself wait until December though to actually start decorating.... I think.... Unless I cave.... Grrrrr.... this is feckin hard!!!

My Christmas cheer has been building over the past few weeks, as soon as December comes the decorations will go up, I've already bought loads of presents, I'm going to buy wrapping paper soon and make a start on that

In the middle

Christmas has been rubbish since my lads grew up if I am honest, now it’s just seeing how much you can over spend and how much unnecessary food you can waste, it is totally commercialised and ridiculous, I no longer participate in it

I don't buy into this 'overcommercialism of Christmas' mantra that people keep spouting..

If you don't like Christmas thats fair enough but if you do you can still find the magic of it if you try hard enough..

I have never overspent on my son for presents..i have a low income and if i cant afford it, i don't buy it..and my son doesn't mind one bit..
