"I've never bothered searching for fake pics before, but just have there out of boredom and curiosity. Found a load of online pics just in messages from the last couple of hours alone! I wouldn't have replied based on the profiles and bodies they'd chosen to steal anyway, but still, my wee naive eyes have been opened! "Good call to do it (I do it myself when I’m OLD, less need on here). On the bright side at least it enables you to identify the fakes quickly. Far more tiresome when people use “genuine” pics which are from 10+ years ago, don’t provide an accurate likeness, and you only realise when you’ve wasted an evening to meet them. | |||

On the bright side at least it enables you to identify the fakes quickly.

But if the pics turn out to be suspiciously similar to Ariana Grande’s boobs, Meghan Markle’s legs or the bronzed abs of a bloke who died in Afghanistan years ago, that might be the point where you smell a rat.

"These searches don't really prove anything other than the pic is elsewhere" Not always they don't but as others have pointed out they usually light up numerous hits to porn sites, which is a good indication of fakery - or in the instance I mentioned above they were of someone who died 12 years ago - both of which are fairly clear evidence they don't belong to the person purporting to own them here. Often with a little digging it's obvious they don't belong to the profile - in the other example I mentioned, the profile was located, lets just say this side of the Atlantic, one of their pics reverse imaged to a profile on a US based pic sharing site - a little more digging around other pics on that profile showed that not only had the user here "borrowed" ALL of her pics from that site, but the legitimate owners of the pics were based in the US, were actually a happily married couple (the profile here said she was solo and cheating on her husband) and other stuff besides. So no getting a hit on a single pic via reverse image in itself doesn't necessarily prove anything but a little digging and application of common sense often does | |||
