Watch out for fake accounts....

We just though we would share that we have had our first, what we believe is a fake account burn... we were chatting to a girl who was going to meet us soon, and after weeks of chatting on here and exchanging pics and things seeming to go well, our messages are now getting ignored even though we can see she's still online all the time. We are still relatively new to this site but now we will take extra caution when chatting and sending pics etc, as it's time wasted and disheartening. We wont mention the name as there is a slim chance she is genuine, but do be careful everyone before exchanging numbers, pics etc as it's not a nice feeling when you do find out and things don't add up. How can you make sure you are chatting to someone genuine?

Other than that, we really like the site and enjoy chatting to likeminded people.

OP unfortunately this happens here, which is a shame. Only thing you can do is put it down to experience and move on. There are people here who arwe totally genuine, honest and great fun once you get to know them. YOu'll just have to persevere, I did and now having a good time. I've blocked a few idiots and timewasters in the process though! Good luck for the future and enjoy the site.

Experienced similar problems too OP. Unfortunately its virtually impossible, I now ignore anyone with no profile pics or verifications infact I block them so they don't show up on searches anymore. Theres always the chance she just been wasting your time all along, Ive had that too

An early phone call sorts this out I really don't know why people don't do it as it saves a lot of wasted time.

Hi op did she have a verified pic or verifications . If neither always be cautious until you have proof. There are a number of ways other than meeting to get a better sense, phone call, live pics on other apps or camming .

OP.... you will find lots of fakes around the Essex area... the rule I use is: are they verified (in person) ? If not... and they have been on for more than 3 months, the probability is they are fake.

Best way to meet new people is by visiting clubs, there is a great one in Colchester

You could ask to cam, that way you see each other before meeting and know they are real and vice versa.

OP. From time to time you will come across them. Some are very easy to spot and some take a while to see into the content of the account.

All you can do is trust you instinct and try and get as much confirmation before agreeing to any type of meet. Like any site they will be there and caution is a must

Unfortunately It’s not a new thing. I’ve had a few encounters and even been set up by a guy posing as a woman. They are. Usually easy to spot now. Unverified, no pics. Won’t speak on the phone or send direct pics

Unfortunately it's very common place and there is no easy way to tell - even with veris and pics. Veris are easily faked once you have one and with the plethora of pic sharing websites it's easy to "borrow" pics and pose as someone you're not.

I'm aware of two profiles that post on the forums, both of which are verified, and both of which have pics that are borrowed from elsewhere - both are, I suspect, the same person, and the same person that has had numerous previous profiles along the same lines, one of which was very popular around the forums and a visitor to page one of Hot Pics.

The only way to filter out the fakes is to go with your gut feel, use tools like TinEye and Google Reverse Image, spend time getting to know people through messaging and things like webcam or voice calls and be wary of certain "tells" like always trying to take things to sex chat or constantly asking for new pics etc. - ultimately if it smells fishy it's likely to be fishy!!

It is a real shame when it happens, we will definitely be more careful in future when it comes to friend requests and exchanging pics etc.

Even if they have lost interest or bored, you'd think they would at least have the decency to reply and say that, we wouldn't take offence, it happens.

It makes you wonder what these people must really be like in real life! Oh well.... I guess you learn from your mistakes and nievity.

We're off to Le Boudoir next Sat night so hoping we will be able to chat and meet real people there rather than perverted keyboard warriors lol

Its common and part of using fab. Chatting is designed to determine if there is a spark that would want to meet for many. If that spark doesnt emerge they will sieze talking as politely saying no thanks can lead to abuse.
