Those pre-meet butterflies..

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

.. do you still get them?

Is it any different if it’s a social or a play meet? Someone you’re meeting for the first time or a regular?

Or are you an old hand at this now and can take it all in your stride?

Can they be a good thing or a negative thing?

For me the excitement / tingle is half the fun of being here. When it stops, I stop I think.

Sometimes the adrenaline pumps so much I physically shake. I can’t help it, it’s just the involuntary result of the adrenaline!

But it’s a good nervous for me, and 10 minutes in I’ll be fine again.

What about you?

I don't tend to get nervous on 1-1 social meets anymore. I get more butterflies for a proper meets but it's as much the anticipation. Especially if there has been chat and build up about the meet

It makes no difference if its the first meet or if its a repeat

There and to the left a bit

The day I stop being nervous and getting butterflies before a meet, is the day that I need to stop having them - it's the same every time, being an overthinker I fret about all sorts and stuff I probably shouldn't - but I still go ahead, steel myself and like you Dan, 10 minutes or so in and I wonder what I was fretting about.

Even after seeing someone for 8mths, my tummy goes into full spin cycle beforehand..

As has been said above, the nervous anticipation is all part of the fun. Especially for a first meeting. With people I have met before it’s usually just excitement rather than nerves.

Exeter, Bristol, Plymouth, Truro

Don't know that I've felt butterflies probably due to not ever feeling that overwhelming physical attraction with someone before meeting. Yes I've had great connections and liked people but that doesn't make me nervous etc.
