Yes! To various degrees of success. I’m still a lard arse. But less of a lard arse than I was a year ago. It’s all relative I guess!

The only gym worth joining is one with a bar, pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

Yes, it's a bit inconsistent sometimes depending on my reserve commitments - tipping up on exercise with DOMS is the worst!

Hefty Hideaway

I fractured my hand boxing at the gym last week. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s hazardous to my health - that and I am too fecking clumsy.

At least I legit get some time off from the gym and have a valid excuse to stick to the crosstrainer and the stairs from hell.

Enjoy the gym op. It can be lots of fun.

How did you fracture it. I used the cross trainer not sure which handles you're supposed to hold

A mixture of the wrong hand support and my clumsy approach.

I use the smaller handles for when I have a fast burst on the cross trainer and the larger ones for a steadier pace.

Having never stepped inside a gym in 48 years prior to this May, I now go for 45-60 mins, 5 times a week and thoroughly enjoy it.

I take Wednesdays and one day at weekend as rest days

I do a mix of cardio and use the machines. I haven't progressed to free weights yet.

From my point of view, it is a health thing. An attempt to reverse my diabetes and generally get a bit fitter.

I am past aestethics. Not interested in being ripped or having pronounced / defined muscles, just better in myself

No - it's someone that decides to change their body to what they would like it to look like - a sculpter but not with clay, wood or stone, the human body.....much harder to do

I am a bodybuilder BUT find all that competition and posing boring.

I do it for me to shape my body to an image I had in mind as a teenager.

I'd NEVER compete and besides most are on anabolic steroids like the olympic athletes and I don't wanna go there

It could be, not sure, although, it is a term widely used by mostly everyone.

My husband goes the gym and is big, a lot of his friends are big. None of them call it bodybuilding.

To me you look like you go the gym but for fitness rather than trying to get big.

Actually no it does not , shag looks like he builds his body , he sculpts it , a very precise and difficult task

Getting big could be body building or it could be eating cake as you work out

Shag if we trust his pics which I do , has progressed very well and maintained a lean body , for him to improve his lifts add muscle and remain lean is dedication , very much a body builder

I'm glad your man is big and strong and enjoying the gym , if he does not consider himself a body builder that's cool but in my opinion shag certainly is , and body builders exist at all weight classes not just man, woman mountains x

We are always in some sort of specialised or commercial gym for fighting, lifting or commefi gym for steady state.

Life seems happier for us both when we train.

Manchester (she/her)

I do. Oddly, I've only come to really appreciate it now I do it partly as rehab following a life changing injury earlier this year. I don't think I look like I work out, but I feel a lot better (physically and mentally), and I'm overcoming many of the apparently permanent aspects of my injury. And my body feels different now. I do it for me.
