I wonder if that opinion would be different if it had been you standing on the Kent coast waiting to repel an invasion or doing your best to defend the capital from a cockpit.

"With respect we remember. X" I doubt anyone else will be aware, but whilst virtually all Radio Stations fell silent at 11am for the 2 minutes Silence, one did not! That was BBC Radio 5 Sports Live, who for the 3rd year running, ran a football commentary! No respect, not even any programme planning to ensure they show due respect. Sad, that R5 Sports Editors allow Sport to take precedence over honouring the fallen.

"I don’t understand why a thread about remembrance descends into debate about war. For those that don’t agree ... move on. For those that do .... carry on and remember. I’m the latter. I find the unnecessary debate disrespectful on this day. Why not just debate it another day? Would you debate the cost of funerals on the day of a burial? No because it’s insensitve. I remember a thread after the Manchester bombing. Zero tolerance or respect for those suffering. All people wanted to do was fight amongst themselves about terrorists etc. It’s nonsense. Respect goes a long way. " I agree it's awful isn't it.

So it made zero difference to you observing the two minute silence? Looking at the schedule 5 Live sport started at 11.05 today until then it was Pienaars Politics. I imagine if you ‘listen again’ to that program, there will be a silence. Some people will complain about anything these days

Oh this guy Hahahaha Indeed, if there were more like him not only fab, but the world, would be a much nicer place! You rock Seeside! It would prob be quite a bit nicer if we all stopped glorifying wars, but eh oh, just my opionion.. " remembrance is not glorification. it is taking a moment out of your day (just the one, single day) to give a thought to the millions of ordinary men and women who, when their country needed it most, served with faultless commitment, even though the majority of them did not agree with war, did not agree with violence, and in some cases did not agree with the politics surrounding the wars. just be thankful that in this day and age your country has not demanded the same from you, and be thankful that those before you fought for the freedom and liberties that allow you to make your views public. "but eh oh, just my opinion"

"I hope you've all your able-bodied people been out to a service and have not just sat here on the internet talking about it xx" m Yes I have but people don’t need to attend a service to be able to respectfully remember.

"There are some try hards on here.... Stop replying to them and carry on your remembrance as you want to. Some people will always choose today to raise the attributes of war. Not one person I know who shows respect on remembrance say celebrate the ongoing losses both of service men and women or the innocent bystanders. Its a ridiculous motion to believe they do. Some think they are being clever or political but they aren't. " Exactly

"but eh oh, just my opinion" Ok well you remember the fallen and I will also, but I will also think about and voice the current and future generations that will lose their lives in pointless and greedy occupations of foreign lands, and MY country is not free, just yet anyway.. but eh oh, I could just glorify in the past and sit in comfort, oblivious to the real world.. just my opinion So why can’t you do that elsewhere. Why here? Why today? You didn’t make your point a week ago or a month ago so why now? You’re being very disrespectful. Because now it gets attention.. I’m being respectful because I don’t see the point in more and more men and women being sent to die in pointless wars for greed, that’s my opinion and I respect yours.. I gets attention when you raise it. Try again in a month. You don’t have to do this here and now on this particular thread. You are choosing to even though it’s causing upset. You know what you’re doing, you understand what I’m saying and asking. This is so unnecessary. Do you not find it upsetting that there are young men and women getting shipped out right as we speak? You’re here to argue and make points about others things and I’m not. It’s Remembrance Day. I will not communicate with you again. That’s ok, I respect your decision.. I’ll think of the current ones getting shipped out right now that will return with the blood stained flag over their coffin, while next year you will be waving your poppy around for them.. Can you not just give it a rest or start your own thread? quite agree x I respect your opinion and I apologise for any distress caused by the inconvenient truth.. " It's not inconvenient. We all know the cost of war, we all know people are still dying fighting wars for governments and politics but that isn't what today or this thread is about. You say you respect things yet act in the most disrespectful way. You do nothing here to further your 'cause'. Every single person in here agrees that war is bad but you dint3 even have the good grace to go and start your own discussion about war, you choose to trample over a well meant thread with your bully boy, passive aggressive 'respect your opinion' comments. You have made the OP feel bad and even tried to have a go at their dyslexia (it didn't go unnoticed) in an effort to try and make yourself look clever.... You failed.

"Can we now have a 2 minute silence to remember those who gave thar lives so we can have ours. I don’t think there’s much noise here anyway haha That's not the point. Oh this guy Hahahaha Indeed, if there were more like him not only fab, but the world, would be a much nicer place! You rock Seeside! It would prob be quite a bit nicer if we all stopped glorifying wars, but eh oh, just my opionion.. remembrance is not glorification. it is taking a moment out of your day (just the one, single day) to give a thought to the millions of ordinary men and women who, when their country needed it most, served with faultless commitment, even though the majority of them did not agree with war, did not agree with violence, and in some cases did not agree with the politics surrounding the wars. just be thankful that in this day and age your country has not demanded the same from you, and be thankful that those before you fought for the freedom and liberties that allow you to make your views public. " My respect is for the ones fallen and also for the ones that will fall pointlessly in the next 12 months, the ones everyone here refuses to acknowledge..
