"In the past, I've volunteered for medical trials. If you can time your leave to coincide with the dates of the study eg. students and job seekers, it's a great way to earn extra £££. " If you don't mind growing an extra nose on your neck.

"I earn a reasonable wage, but could do with a little extra, I know couldn't we all ha ha. I am trained to do PAT testing but that is not my current job, keep thinking I could earn a bit extra doing it part time, but no idea how that would work with my doing it legally and paying my taxes. anyone know of a way to increase your income on a part time basis ?" Pat testing is a good idea. I know someone who does it in the Wrexham area to make extra cash. Charges around 50p per item. A small office with up to 10 employees could easily have 80 items to test so it's surprising how the number of items soon adds up to a tidy amount per hour. You'll need insurance, the testing equipment, consumables - ie stickers and certificates, website, phone etc. You can use QuickBooks or Xero to do your accounts to keep everything above board and certain expenses can be allocated to your business to reduce tax payable. You could even employ a friendly Virtual Assistant to help you get set up (Can you tell that's what my business is!) J

J " II know it adds up, I am a school caretaker and we used to get someone in to do all are stuff, but then when the school found out how cheap it was to do the training they sent me on the course to learn how to do it, it is only a one day course, a chimpanzee could do it lol. and we bought the tester and stickers for under £300 it costs about £90 every 12 months to have the tester calibrated.
