What’s something that used to scare you, but no longer does?

Bore da, Good morning Friends Fabbers and Forumites.

It's another jolly day , though it's looking a tad stormy here. So pooch and I will be out early . Then jolly well hunker down.

Many many moons ago I used to be a jolly mountain climber . Loved zooming up the crags and rocky mountain tops here . Then one day on a ridge I knew well I lost my nerve . The infamous Crib Goch on snowdon. I have up the high stuff on that day.

Now over the years I have regained my confidence and I have pushed my self gently to go higher again.

So chums our question is

What’s something that used to scare you, but no longer does?

A fear you have conquered and become and have regained mastery of.

There and to the left a bit

Flying - there was a time that I would work myself into a nervous wreck before any flight I had to take and would spend much of it gripping the armrests and twitching at every knock or bang or bumpiness convinced we were about to plummet to earth.

Then about 12 years ago I had to take several flights in a short space of time and that somehow cured me of my fears and I actually look forward to flying now

Going to a swingers club

But in the vanilla world, it was always taking to people on telephones... Weird!

I had no problem taking to people face to face, but for some stupid reason just couldn't bring myself to call someone

A lot of what I do nowadays is calling clients on the phone or via Skype. Just had to get over myself and its no longer an issue

I am good at talking with people, but I am a loner at heart

I am not a natural mixer

If I can blend into the background, I will

It used to scare the hell outta me

Now, I just deal with it

I'm actually fine with it now and can laugh about it -they're alll now passed on to the great tavern in the sky -and i'm not one for letting past events get in the way (or for revering the dead if they don't particularly deserve it)

Dogs... I got attacked by one as a child. I was terrified for years after. Until my dad got a big German Shepard. I moved in with my mam for a while.. but eventually got less afraid of dads dog. After a while I started walking this big brute and suddenly other dogs didn’t seem so scary. When I moved back in with my dad the dog used to sleep in my room. Broke my heart when he died but he cured me.

Hornets. When i was little i came across a nest in our outhouse which terrified me. Now i've been known to pick them up and move them to a safe place if i come across them at work.

Time's kind like that. It's long passed to a laugh for me too, but if I sit with those feelings they don't take long to surface.
