I literally despair at the news of this. The press are reporting the stabbing deaths. I wonder how many are being stabbed and survive... It won't be long before the press stop reporting.. it is mainstream now. Despite the rhetoric I am not sure that the ruling classes care..

Whilst figures show a rise, the reality is, it's not rife throughout the UK at the level the media has you thinking.

And the "ruling " classes as you put it, aren't generally stabbing people?

So maybe whatever classes you're referring to should resolve it?

I think the evidence suggests it is though.

What I mean is, and respect to some politicians, just don't live in this new world. I think they are so remote that it does not affect them ..

Children most at risk when walking home from school.. it's gone crazy.. but surely only the top dogs can sort this out .. the politicians

Percentage wise, the chances of you being stabbed are very remote, and reduced even more if you're not involved in criminality.

I'm not suggesting it's acceptable at the moment, but it's the latest media bandwagon on scare stories.

You're far more likely to be killed in a car accident.

The chances might be slim but I just read about an innocent Romanian lad minding his own business in Westfield shopping centre and was stabbed in a subway trying to escape... What puts it in perspective for me is that parents used to worry if their children would come home safe on a Friday or Saturday night on the town. Some parents just want them home safe from school...

I haven't heard any scare stories, just reports on a daily basis of another young man dying. As I said, the fact that I literally had to pull over for all the police and ambulance vehicles attending the Sunday lunchtime murder, which was in broad daylight on a quiet suburban street I was passing, rather brought it home to me.

I find alot of press in the UK don't post about it much (BBC in particular).

In American news I find alot of interesting articles about the UK including knife crime in the UK. They seem to post alot of news that the UK press doesn't report, not sure if laws in the UK prevent them where as American media are allowed to.

London has the highest knife crime in the world. aswell as acid crime in the UK. London Heathrow is world's most connected airport on the world. ethnic figures for London and UK. Pay. So many more nothing reported in the UK.

Lots of interesting stuff UK press don't report.

I did see some American wag comment that even with our gun control laws, London beat new York for murders last year, dunno if its true or not.

I'd check your sources. There's a huge interest in hysterical press about UK knife crime from people whose key interest is to deflect conversation from US gun law.

Also, in 'knife crime' talk remember the definition includes:

carrying a knife or trying to buy one if you’re under 18

threatening someone with a knife

carrying a knife that is banned

a murder where the victim was stabbed with a knife

a robbery or burglary where the thieves carried a knife as a weapon

Of course all of these things are shitty, but 'knife crime' often doesn't mean being stabbed.

Here's a list of world cities by murder rate:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_by_murder_rate

Not one UK city in the top 50. A bit of perspective.

No...no...no!!!

Parents, families and communities need to sort it out.

Let's be honest, it's mostly black on black crime. If the police/white groups were killing one black youth a month there'd be merry hell to pay, yet the black community has been silent. On a school night what is your 15 year old doing on the street? My children were allowed out Fridays and Saturdays term time. They had a curfew 10pm. My eldest would be home and in bed before 10, my middle daughter came home 11 and was not allowed out for the remainder of the term. When she broke the curfew again she wasn't allowed out in the evenings.

Parents seem to leave their kids to raise themselves. I don't know why these youths crave "respect" so much and kill to "earn" it.

I think to start parents need to spend more time with their kids...as parents. Set boundaries and act swiftly if they're broken. Find out what interests them and support them.

I honestly don't know how we've come to this, but blaming the government is a cop out.

It should be a instant long prison sentence for just carrying one. Why hasn’t the law been changed to stop it.

You always speak so much common sense and even though I opted out of being a parent I don't understand the parents that opt in to the view of not giving a shit!

It is NOT the governments ruling into sorting this situation out, it is down to parenting, not the schools either as most teachers are vilified by some parents with the 'how dare you say that about my child' attitude, they are there to teach academic studies to endorse their child's life, not have 29 sets of parent out of 30 kids hindered by a disruptive child and blamed for their behaviour.

Maybe have the threat of jailing both child and parent? Might be a bit extreme, but might make both sit up smell the roses about what is really going on, I don't know as I said I don't have kids but something needs to be done as knife crime is really getting out of hand in this country
