The first handheld mobile phone (there had been mobiles in cars before) was demonstrated by John F. Mitchell and Martin Cooper of Motorola in 1973.

Several disposable cameras were patented long before the 1980s including the Photo-Pac, (which could be had for around $1.50 in 1940s money) was designed to be bought at a store, used, and dropped in a mailbox—after you added the stamp directly on the packaging, of course

I still use MadTracker sometimes. It runs on my PC in a Workbench emulator : ) I had Bars and Pipes for sequencing, and Cubase 2 on an ST.

Audio software has come a long long way.

Manimal - starring our very own, (the late) Simon MacCorkindale. At school we all used to try to emulate the pulsating hand thing that he did whenever he transmogrified into an animal form (spare a thought as this was before the Internet bear in mind)

Auto Man was a sort of Tron like dude who appeared to solve crime in inimitable, glorious eighties style. He was an externalised computer program as I recall and had the ability to materialise glowing cars etc. Great stuff
