What do people look for in terms of message subject lines?

Keen to try and make mine a bit more eye catching with many messages not being read.

People look for originality so why not come up with your own rather than looking for someone else to write it for them.

I've just looked down my inbox and most of them are either fairly simple: "Hey", "Missive","Catch Up" and "Evening" are some examples, or the subject line is the title of the thread the message string started from

Most of ours received are headed 'Hi' 'Hello' or my favourite '!!!WOW WOW WOW!!!!!' I like to open those with the thought that one day there's going to be the most incredible piece of information enclosed within the msg, you know, world changing maybe....

I never look either unless it forms the first bit of the message and then it takes me a while to wonder why the message starts half way through a sentence

I get a LOT of messages with Re: in the subject line, falsely implying that we have spoken before and have a rapport.

I instantly block everyone who tries that on, manipulation is never ever sexy!

I just find people that try too hard a bit cringey. Plus those ones tend to be cut and pasted.

The key is not to try to hard. Just be yourself.

If you saw a person out in town, would you approach and talk to them? It’s kinda the same here only with typed words
