"I am sure there are a few of us on here that suffers with a day to day illness that no one can see. Mine is bipolar disorder. Any other sufferers out there? " If Fab is a representative of the population. Then about 5% will have BP 1/2 and a further 20% will have some form on mental illness

"If you have bipolar how on earth do you deal with setting up meets when you're all up and excited and then, come the time to meet, feeling like hiding down the back of the sofa instead? Do you just accept that you're going to let some people down and be called a timewaster and that's just going to be that or do you have ways of getting around that issue? I'm interested as I know someone who is struggling with it and it would be good to have some insight into how others deal with it " I don’t meet simple as that, if I’m having a down period I do literally hide and won’t answer any messages. I usually hide my profile and have in the past left fab. If I can’t make a meet I always give plenty of notice and I’ve never stood anyone up. I know I was meant to meet you but after thinking about a 4hr round trip it just wasn’t doable for me. Just because I’m bipolar doesn’t mean I can’t be on here and enjoy myself so saying how on earth can I set up meets, I can easily but only when I’m able.

BP suffers can have periods of full stability and lead a ‘normal ‘ life. During these periods arranging meets would not be a problem. When in a less stable period cycling from up to down and back arranging meets could be an issue. However not BP suffers can have different intensities of symptoms.

"I've found the Fab forums contribute to mental agitation. Don't get me wrong, they've helped me through big traumas, somewhere to turn to to get away from life. But I've come out of that with a mental antsyness and spiritual disorientation that comes from the new tech. That's why I'm thinking of switching off and going old skool soon " maybe something in what you say there

"Manic depression and anxiety so far " Manic depression is the old term for bi-polar. Clinical depression? Though to be fair the use of clinical is superfluous.

But you're telling me that they'll come out of that at some point, presumably thanks to the right medication. That's good to know. It's so depressing seeing them set themself up to fail over and over again

"I think there is a very high proportion on here. More so than you would find anywhere else. Not just basic mental health issues but personality disorders too. " I think people here are also very open about their issues and challenges, disclosing things via the internet is sometimes easier than in real-life scenarios, which may be a good thing.

"I also take a combination of Carbmazpine and Venlafaxine, that can seriously wipe me out and all I want to do is sleep. Mentally, I’m in a good place right now but with the highs then lows will follow. " Glad the meds are working. The Silver Bullet for BP2 (and 1?)is supposed to be but Lamotrigine but about 10-20% are intolerant to it. I believe it’s expensive so NHS not keen to prescribe it I understand.

"I have a feeling that if I hdnt joined fab then my mental health would have deteriorated - however, a few weeks after joining and getting a meet, I realised being here was a good thing for me. Mid thread game: insert the missing ‘a’. " I've got ClinicaL Depression and the forum has saved my sanity too. I've found that it's best to let my posts do the leg work for me, rather than go for the normal PM approach. Mail shots=junk mail: no meets or socials Bloody good posts=part time blogger: 1 club social, 1 day visit, 1 weekend visit, 1 pending, (can't wait!) So this is how musicians get groupies? The future's bright, the future's FAB hAdn't

That's why I'm thinking of switching off and going old skool soon maybe something in what you say there" I'm a big believer in attracting things to myself. After having feasted on the excesses of YouTube dating and pickup videos, I've come to the conclusion that the best way to attract the woman of my dreams is to become the man of her dreams. The spiritual disorientation that comes from the new tech really messes with all that (for me). It makes me less grounded and more flighty. I just feel like I'm not really rooted in this reality. So becoming rooted, becoming a fuller loving person, I think that's all gonna send out attraction signals to the universe and my beautiful soul mate will emerge from the mists and come to me ...at least that's the plan

"Manic depression and anxiety so far Manic depression is the old term for bi-polar. Clinical depression? Though to be fair the use of clinical is superfluous. " I have to disagree that the use of the word clinical is superflous sorry. There is a big difference between depression and clinical depression. It is good that more people talk about mental health problems now and hopefully this will help others.

" I think there are plenty of people on the site living with mental health conditions;some managing some not so well. Of course, that's stating the obvious, but my point is that they reflect the fact that society is made up of people with such conditions. I'm not sure it's always the best place to be in here when suffering highs and lows, as it's easy to be exploited or to lose self esteem. Just don't go through the motions." If one is going through the motions, always remember to nagivate the river of poo swimming breaststroke, it scoops them out of the way.
