"depression is a pain ( putting it nicely) now i dont know if you have hobbies but getting outside away from four walls helps me be it hill walking or cycling. i find that the voices in my head abate for a few hours. do anything to alter the routine of normality then the lure of doing the big jump is less . remember suicide is like your driving test get it right and you only do it once " this has seriously helped!! "It's a vicious cycle, and self destructive. I know it all too well as do many other people living with mental health issues. I can tell you how I cope with mine, it isn't the best way and it's different for everyone but I'm still alive so doing something right at least. I don't drink alcohol unless I'm in a great mood. Because you're right it is a depressant, but in a great mood and with good company you can enjoy yourself. I try to do things to occupy my thoughts all the time. Even 5 minutes alone with my thoughts I lose the plot. Be it reading, drawing, watching TV box sets and movies or sitting on fabchat, texting and messaging people. Sex is an excellent distraction for them thoughts and elevates the right chemicals in the brain. I've tried every antidepressants going and even double meds. Problem I had they made the suicidal tendencies worse all day every day from waking to sleeping. It's a vicious cycle as you think there's no reason to feel that way but you feel like you don't want to be here any more. So you feel bad for thinking it making you feel worthless, useless, unloved, unwanted, pathetic, ugly, miserable and the list goes on. I lock myself away when I feel this way which is totally wrong thing to do. Because that's when we need others the most. But I never want to be a burden or disrupt anyone's life because of my own. That's where you need friends and family to push back your walls and love you be there for you. Sadly I don't have anyone willing to push my walls down. Hold strong on your love for your kids they are your anchor In this life know above all else you deserve to live it and depression is a battle even when you feel defeated you're still here. Find people to have in your life you trust and will break your walls down when you build them. Go out even when you feel MEH (where you don't feel happy or sad just empty) force yourself then sometimes you may even find yourself lifting out of the hole even if it's only a bit. Every step forward counts even if you have to go back a few steps. Try and try again it's OK because we are all human and know it's OK to feel what you feel. Reaching out isn't attention seeking it's survival. Try your doctors try the mental health services you can. Hopefully there will be someone who can point you in the right direction for good support but don't forget family and friends. Don't be ashamed of your mental health. When you feel up to it print leaflets off, many online for family and friends suffering mental health. Gives them advice on how to support you. " well said | |||

"Definitely seek help. If you don't want to speak to your GP then go to the mind website, they have people you can talk to and give you advice. But really you need to seek professional help, I have had it since I can remember even as a child. I was only formally diagnosed about 4 years ago when my marriage ended but inhave had 1-2-1 counselling, I have had CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and medication. It will help you through your darkest moments but depression never really leaves you so you need to put the techniques in place to get through it. " Exactly this you learn to live with it and how best to deal with it for you, I handle things better now but I still have dark moments but luckily my kids keep me going x storm x | |||
