It's great living in the countryside. Nice and peaceful here... not that the sound of fireworks bothers me. You do kinda expect it this time of year.

As an owner of a petrified dog too I really despise these kinds of comments. If it was only bonfire night and new year you can prepare by buying sedatives from the vets to use but as the arseholes let them off for weeks on end you can’t sedate your dog for that length of time

And I despise comments where people act shocked that fireworks are being set off the Saturday before bonfire night. It's expected. More than in Monday because local councils etc will more often than not arrange their displays for the nearest weekend.

I get that done dogs and people are scare of them, I really do. And I understand that you can't sedate for extended periods of time but I don't accept that no one would have thought tonight might be a good night to do that.

I have one dog cuddled into me looking very sorry for herself, got one dog in her bed snoring her head off and the other one is on the window sill watching the display from the cricket ground

I really couldn't care less about fireworks.

It's similar to setting fire to money - I don't get it

It's freezing and loud and I certainly don't want to be at some display with the other people and their children!

Noooooo - I'd rather be home all toasty - and if I fancy seeing any exploding money I can just look out of my window

They’ve been letting them off for over a week here, I’ve got two very unsettled sons to cope with. It would be ok If it was just this weekend and they only had the home use ones, but they get the big display type ones that are so big and loud. X

We had a poodle that would wander about and get under the sideboard, then we had a minature long haired sausage dog who wasnt bothered by them at all, only our dog we have got now is very small, smaller than a cat and very nervous.

Thankfully I no longer have the problem of a frightened dog with fireworks. The current hound seems to just ignore them unless it's the fools a couple of doors up who set off the biggest ones they can on their tiny "garden" & the debris or rockets fall down on the house. Even then, doesn't get wound up by them.

The last dog was very nervous with fireworks but always tried to do a good long walk in the daytime to help tire her out, then we had a plug in scent calmer from the vets once we were home with the telly/radio on. Latterly got her a thunder shirt and that really seemed to help (it applies constant gentle pressure to reassure them)

I'd far rather wrap the tossers who keep letting the bloody fireworks off...in duct-tape, and maybe (just MAYBE) set them free in time for Christmas!!! Twats!!!

And the actual bonfire itself doesn’t seem to exist now either, you couldn’t see up the street the day after bonfire
