What a tune! Slightly before my time but I do love it. I quite like the Smiths and the Cure as well.

Loved the extended remix of Tainted Love that morphed into Where Did Our Love Go.

Also loved Faith by George Michael and The Only Way Is Up by Yazz.

We have very, very similar tastes, Baggy trousers was the first 'proper' single I bought, still got my Madness fan club members pack in the loft!

The whole Ska/2Tone/Mod Revival thing was a massive influence on me in my early teenage years, both musically and fashion wise, still does to this day one way or another, and led me to get into The Kinks, The Who, The Small Faces.

Still think Weller was, and still is a fantastic songwriter, but fuck me for a man whose had a career spanning 40 years with countless iconic songs, he is one miserable sod! - Definitely a case for never meeting one heroes.

Later got into The Cult & Simple Minds and got to see them on the city of lights tours - epic

A lot of 80s stuff I thought was for girls when it was contemporary, that I love nowadays. Duran Duran, Spandau, Haircut 100, Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw, Level 42, etc.

Yep pretty much the same Two Tone and the mod revival sparked my musical interests and informed them as I grew older, and also lead me to look back and get into the likes of those you named, plus Tampa, Northern Soul, Ian Dury and lots more.

Likewise regarding the New Romantic stuff, hated it at the time, but features firmly on my playlists now.

Big year next year for Two Tone being the 40th anniversary, Specials (albeit only the remaining three) have announced a new album, Madness will be doing something (off to their annual House Of Fun Weekend at Butlins at the end of the month), Dave Wakeling will be bringing his version of The Beat back over at some point too
