I watched a period drama yesterday and when he introduced his girlfriend to his mother she thought she wasnt good for him, but he did, do you also agree that when you love someone you cant see their fualts?

I think people must see there faults but must decide that the pros out weigh the cons.

Period dramas are different and often the mothers dislike is because the son brings home a girl from lower working class(my ex watched these bloody films regularly)

I think you can see what be considered faults, but you're prepared to put up with them or excuse them. Other times you understand the reasoning behind them and thatsball you need.

It does depend on the "fault" though.

Is it actually a fault? Is it something you can work on together? Is it anything important?

It could be just the way they eat, and what one person sees as a fault, another could find endearing.

Real proper love sees the faults and loves the whole person while disliking the faults. If you don't acknowledge their faults you're kidding yourself about the person.

Yep. I'm aware I can be negative at times, I also have a tendency to taking things personally when perhaps it's not the case (though I think there are times when it's very much the case) that doesn't make me unlovable, just means at times I need to be shown the bigger picture, and be reassured. I'm sure there's someone out there capable of putting up with that!

There is not one person on this planet who is perfect, not one. It isn't a case of finding someone capable of putting up with you yu have to be able to put up with them too . Mr N and I often say that its a good job we met each other because nobody else would put up with us

My mum always used to say this, yes i think some people are easily impressed and manipulated, its like my son mentions a girl he finds attractive who i find just average as i seen a girl on QVC and a quiz show yesterday who looked much better.

When we fall in love with someone we do distort the reality, being somewhat blinded to issues etc and magnifying the glory of the rest. Falling out of love we tend to do the reverse of this.

I fully agree. Love makes one blind. When you're in love with someone, any flaws of theirs can be excused and explained away. Any shortcomings lived with. Any deficiencies in character, treated as flukes that can be fixed by your relationship and love with them.

Then you wake up one day after a long time putting up with all this burden, and you realise that for the first time since you fell in love with them, you can't bring yourself to choose to love them anymore, flaws sins and all. And when you finally break up and leave, you look back on the past and you wonder how you managed to let someone break so many red lines that you wouldn't ordinarily allow anyone else in life to do to you.

Love is blind. Love is one of those things that makes fools out of the smartest of men.
