"Especially vegetarians that eat fish! Whats that all about? " That's nothing. I once had a friend who refused to eat sentient life forms. But she decided for some reason that prawns weren't sentient ![]()

"Milk isn't part of the meat industry? ![]() They are a 'by-product' of the dairy industry - I wish they were raised for meat, most are slaughtered before they have any value for meat. ![]()

"You know the type... "I was horrified when I saw videos about the brutality of our meat industry. So I became a vegetarian... Anyone fancy a cheesy omelette with a nice warm latte?" Was that just something naive people did before veganism came along and reminded them dairy is a key part of the meat industry? Can we just talk about meat eaters and vegans now and forget about the whole vegetarian thing? Or is there still a place for it?" I don't think it as simple as you're trying to present it. There are still probably twice as many vegetarians than there are vegans in this country, veganism is very much on trend right now. If you eat dairy products you are at least not eating the flesh of an animal. Additionally not all vegans or veggies choose their diets for moral reasons, for some people it's a a health or fitness issue and for others it's simply a following the latest trend or conforming to the expected behaviour of a certain group within society. Neither a vegetarian or vegan diet will completely eliminate your impact on the environment/living creatures. With all due respect there will always be a place for vegetarianism, some people will use it as a step on the road the being a vegan and others will have different motivations. I personally eat any old thing as I have no self control but I could understand why someone might not want to eat meat but would still want to eat dairy. After all lots of fruit and is pollinated using bees which aren't free to roam and instead are transported to the growing fields in trucks. This means that like honey there is an ethical dilemma for vegans but as I said earlier you can only reduce harm and not eliminate it.

"If you eat dairy products you are at least not eating the flesh of an animal." If you killed an animal I'd imagine it would be more ethical to eat its body and use its mother's milk... rather than just use its mother's milk and toss its body away

"I think the main difference is that a vegan won't wear or use any products made with any part of an animal. This includes leather shoes, bags etc whereas the vegetarian is more likely to. I wonder if there's an opening in the market for vegan friendly whips and restraints ![]() See for me there's a simple choice. Either you try not to kill an animal. Or if you do then you should really make use of absolutely every part of that animal you can. If only out of respect. I don't equate anything in between with being more ethical than either of those

"Milk isn't part of the meat industry? ![]() ![]() ![]() I suggest you have a chat with yournearest dairy farmer then -them carcasses sure as hell don't end up in landfill when tinkerbell finally pops her clogs (hint: farmer eats some -the rest gets sold as either sub prime beef, animal feed, petfood, gelatin production etc.)

"I was veggie at University but every time I went home my mum still did me a roast dinner and didn’t understand it at all. I rarely eat meat but do love fish. I honestly couldn’t imagine being vegan as that seems really basic to me, to the point we had someone at work who is vegan and wanted a sandwich and we honestly didn’t know what to put in it! " My son is vegan (grown up teen so his choice) and eats all kinds in his sarnies but one of his faves is coronation chickpeas. The sauce made from blitzed silken tofu and curryspices. Keeps a while in the fridge and is really tasty ![]() ![]()

I saw programme where articulated lorries full of bee hives literally parked up in the Scottish Highlands and the bees then feasted on the heather ... I thought it was great and thought of them being on their holidays... Is it possible that bees do not like a nomadic lifestyle and would be much happier staying at home in an area they know,?
