Saw this on twitter earlier and I agree with it.

It said that Baby Boomers born after WW2 are the real snowflakes. The generation that didn't go to war, got free education, affordable housing and destroyed the environment/earth. Millenials are having to fix everything Boomers have broken.

In my experience it does seem to be Boomers who are the ones that moan about not being able to get things for free or other generations working differently to them.

Anyway, it was an interesting topic that caught my eye.

Doesn't work that way. As you see on this forum first hand, snowflakes are generally pretty lazy when it comes to tackling the many real problems that exist and instead they tend to focus on trivial 'problems' they think they have a better chance of solving with a hashtag.

I have been to Normandy and seen them beaches for myself. When we see the distance men had to swim ,get to shore then make it across under the most heaviest machine gun fire, carrying over 30k in some cases completely soaked through to the bone it's amazing anyone did.

The courage to undertake such a duty still staggers me because these were the bravest men the world will ever see in my eyes.

Even today I cannot see the fittest sports man or woman making it alive under such extreme attack.

The human spirit, the will of the good because it had to be done.

The had more guts than any generation that followed and that's why we remember them.

Because without them some of us would never have been born.

This are the heroes. Those that on 6th of June 1944 made the ultimate sacrifice against all odds.

I’ve been there too. The average age of the GI in WW2 was 24 (19 in Vietnam - cue song) and at 24, I don’t think I could have stormed the beaches like they did. I saw a graveyard with 9000 graves. 172 acres. Grim.

We are all products of our times and enviorments.

There are still people fighting wars today.

Each generation has different challenges and they vary depending on where you are born anyway..

I recently went to Monte Cassino and the Anzio beach head in Italy where one of the biggest battles for the western allies was fought, which is often forgotten about in favour of D.Day. 55,000 allies and 20,000 Germans were killed in the 5 month slog to capture the high ground there, the cemeteries for all sides were a sobering sight.

Wrong the average age of a US COMBAT soldier in WW2 was 26.

In Vietnam it was 22.

I was surprised it was so low, with a long running war, people doing multiple year long tours.

Also next myth busting fact ... 70% of troops in Vietnam were volunteers.

They either volunteered for the military or were drafted and volunteered for subsequent tours.

I use to give a speech about the assault of hangman's hill and have met the families of the men involved.

It's more nuanced than OPs post or this one, but I think it can be broadly broken down as:

Boomers can't understand how the material world operates, they can't concieve of how difficult it is to get and maintain a worthwhile career these days compared to their day. That there is no such thing as a "job for life", that housing costs is a joke, social mobility a joke, childcare costs a joke etc.

Millennials on the other hand can't understand how world of reason or logic works. They put feels over reals, have fully imbibed the postmodernist kool aid and generally have a poor grip on the mere concept of reality. They are a generation without a cause, no war, no opportunity and coddled beyond belief by their parents to the point of extended infancy never mind adolescence.

The extremes of both are cretinous tbh

They have had to deal with plenty that the boomers have not. Education is no longer free, the job market is a race to the bottom, they can neither afford a house nor reap the benefits of widespread social housing. Unions have less influence, so in work benefits have decreased....

All of the things that the WW2 generation came home and fought for after the war had ended, so that they could gift their children all of the above and the increased social mobility that came with it. All of which the boomers have worked tirelessly to take away since the 80s.

Eduction is still free.

Public services are better today than in the 50s.

Health care is far better today than the 50s.

Social mobility is better today than the 50s.

Childcare is expensive today but it didn't even exist in the 50s.

The problem with millennials is there completely spoilt and devoid of any work in them whatsoever, they've been pampered there entire life's from school sports day where everybody gets a prize to adolescence with pocket money galore.

Millenials get a lot of undeserved heat.

Technically Millenials went to war in Iraq, Afghanistan, and when the call came stood up.

The fact is, baby boomers a lot of them avoided vietnam etc, and they don't consider themselves snowflakes cause camp security shot tear gas at them, but they were snowflakes. They had snow flake kids who cry over hillary not getting elected, and snowflake grandchildren who are eating washing up pods.

I'm pretty sure they will all die out due to no sperm.
