It probably won’t deter people who are already drink driving, hopefully harsher penalties will be coming in too

I won’t have a single drink if I’m driving although I’m sure there’s probably some mornings after the night before when I’m still over the limit.

Looking on Google, it looks like there is a proposal to change the law but it hasn't been agreed yet.

I don't think you should consume any alcohol if you know your driving as everyone has a different tolerance to alcohol so best to just not have any rather than risk the consequences just my opinion

I have not heard the limit is changing, I'm sure it would be preceded by a campaign, the level is different in scotland

#fakenews

NO change in law.

In any case, the law would never be measured on 'half a pint' due to metabolism etc.

The limit has been lower here in Scotland for about 4 years. People are a lot more conscious as a strong pint can put you over the limit.

The limit should be Zero! All drink drivers should banned for a minimum of 10 years. Those who continue to drive after a ban should do 5 years in prison and then a lifetime ban.

"I have not heard the limit is changing, I'm sure it would be preceded by a campaign, the level is different in scotland"

This is what I thought!

I’ve seen nothing on the new and heard nothing on the radio! I think there’d be a hard time enforcing it if no one actually knows about the changes!

What new law?

Show this by giving a thread to where this says this is fact, because I’m certainly not aware there were any changes in England and Wales

I agree, everyone said all the same things here when it was coming in but what a difference it's made to attitudes

The problem with zero is medications ie cough mixture... was there not a case in Sweden where a teetotal guy proved it was mouthwash ??

Harsher sentencea for repeat offenders and harsher sentences for people 2 or 3 times the limit should be the priority not introducing a penalty for a low level of alcohol. And sentences for all manner of driving offences need overhauling as 6 points seems no more of a deterrent than 3 points time to start banning people for using their phones at the wheel

Lol I love Fake news

Just a thought though orange juice can naturally contain up to 0.5% alcohol. So zero percent would rule that out and vinegar you put on your chips is about 0.2% alcohol

Most drink drivers are people accidentally over the limit caught the morning after a heavy night. Metabolisms work at different rates so without having a breathaliser it's hard to know if you are over the limit.

Nope. No change. https://www.gov.uk/drink-drive-limit

Whilst I agree drink driving is a bad thing and needs to be enforced, the number of accidents attributed to drink driving is tiny compared to the number caused by pedestrians wearing headphones, can we lock them up for 10 years too?

.

I agree, the vast majority of bad accidents are caused by those who are well over the limit or sober people using mobiles or driving like tits.
