O yes this old chestnut. Well back in the day when the decision was made it was based on scientific evidence

The evidence was that as the velocity of the train was greater than the velocity of the movement exiting the carriage. The vectors and currents created by the undercarriage we’re able to create enough centre frugal voice that the movement or shite in lay mans terms was vapouriesed and the particles would then be carried by the tail wind and spread across the country side which would then fertilise the land

So I’m told !!
